"We didn't go with them. The quote was expensive. It was double with what we ended up going with. He was a no-show the first time he was supposed to come out. I got back in touch with them. He said he got caught up in other place. He came out another day and did the quote. He said he was going to come back with some kind of presentation for the quote but he didn't. I ended up calling a week or so. He ended up mailing it to me in the end. It took a while. It took probably a month from the first time I called them until the time I actually got the quote in writing."

Driveway Gates questions, answered by experts

Thieves can open almost anything with enough time and the right tools, but they also prefer easy targets that are unlikely to get them caught. Forcing open gates is loud and difficult, and to be able to open one electronically requires extensive knowledge of the system, which most thieves don't have. Electric and other security gates are great deterrents because the thief will move to an easier target. If the thief is determined to enter your property, they will most likely find a different entrance point.

When making this decision, three essential factors come into play. For budget-conscious individuals, swing gates are the more economical choice. Despite the possibility of both gate types having similar dimensions, many types of sliding gates demand a more intricate opening mechanism and additional components, requiring electrical work for motors and signaling remotes, resulting in higher installation costs.

Instead of a security door, you might opt for a heavy-duty screen door made from durable mesh, which allows better sunlight and airflow. Additionally, you could enhance security by installing strong locks on your existing door. A double-cylinder deadbolt provides robust security; however, be aware that some local laws prohibit them due to safety concerns during emergencies.

Yes, driveway gates can help secure your home by deterring burglars from accessing your property. Climbing a gate slows down burglars while also attracting attention to your gate. If you live further down your property and want to increase security, you can also install a gate security camera that connects to your gate and monitors the area for suspicious activity.

Many security doors come with clear and easy-to-follow installation instructions. Some even include predrilled holes and mounting hardware, making the process smoother. If you're a handy DIY enthusiast, you might find it enjoyable to take on installing a security door.

However, if you're uncomfortable with DIY tasks or want to ensure a flawless installation, you can always seek the help of a local door installer. They have the expertise and experience to get the job done efficiently and correctly.
