"Fantastic! Ed, Danny and their entire team did a wonderful job. Our roof is approx. 75,000 square feet with lots of angles and corners and the job took about 2 weeks. All the guys were great and very punctual and absolutely worked their butts off. They repaired flashing around some corners and the chimney that was not done properly when the house was "custom" built in 2000. We love our new roof and feel 100% confident it was done correctly this time!"

"In this particular case, Lance Roofing offered the best price by far. The workers did a fine job.....very competent, hard working, and accommodating. Clean up afterward was very thorough. They finished the whole job in less than a day."

"Ben fixed the water leak in our roof. He was polite, knowledgeable and considerate. Everything related to the repair was communicated clearly. The cost was very reasonable. He also offered a 2-year warranty on the repair work. We are very satisfied with his service and would recommend him and his company."

"Chuck Baker was great to work with. I had no issues. The work looks great. I can't even tell where they fixed the roof at. They left the area clean and tidy. I feel like it was a little pricey for what it was. But overall great business to work with. I would recommend them!"

Roofing questions, answered by experts

No, a metal roof will not make your house hot. In fact, metal roofs help keep your home cooler by reflecting heat instead of absorbing and transmitting it inside. Metal also has high thermal conductivity, which means it gains and loses heat quickly. While the sun may heat the metal, the roof rapidly transfers that heat back into the air rather than retaining it. This reflective property can lead to energy cost savings of up to 40%, as your cooling system won't need to work as hard to maintain a consistent indoor temperature.

Though cedar shakes often get confused with shingles, there are a few key differences between wood shakes and wood shingles. For one, cedar shingle prices are lower, although shingles are less durable than wood shakes. Cedar shakes are thicker than shingles (shingles range from about 3/8 to 1/2 inches thick, compared to 1/2 to 3/4 inches thick for shakes). Wood shakes are handmade, while shingles are usually machine-made. Also, wood shakes work better on steeper roofs than shingles do. While the cost of cedar shingles is more budget-friendly, there are many great reasons to choose shakes.

Yes, it’s possible to replace drip edge flashing without removing shingles, but it’s not a good idea. You’ll have to lift the bottom shingles up to remove the old drip edge, install the new material, and then lay the lifted roofing material over the new drip edge. Bending roof shingles can cause damage, and if you have ongoing issues with roof leaks that prompt drip edge replacement, it’s a good idea to consider a roof and drip edge replacement to avoid ongoing issues.

No, ice dams aren’t a standalone sign that you need a new roof. Ice dams can form on new roofs, as issues with the insulation inside your home are often the underlying problem. However, if you notice signs of roof damage from ice dams, you might need to hire a local roofer for repair or partial replacement.

The roof pitch on a Cape Cod house is normally 8/12 or 10/12, meaning the roof rises 8 to 10 inches for every 12 inches of horizontal run. This is steeper than the now-standard 6/12 pitch, as Cape Cod homes were originally popular in northern states, where the steeper pitch helped snowfall slide readily off the roof.
