"Start date is estimate. First day, old fence and posts were taken out. Second day, steel posts were put in. Third and fourth day, pickets were put on in the rain. Next, gates were put on and everything wrapped up. About one month later, fence crew came out and replaced about 25 warped boards. Contract says company doesn't liable to do this but they were nice to do it anyway. Fast forward two months later and there are approx. 70 more pickets that are warped out of a total of 175. Again, contract does say they will not replace warped pickets but it also states that company guarantees "free from defects in materials" for two years. I texted and called at least 5-6 times but no response. Worker said he never saw the texts. Worker finally answered phone and said he'd be over in a couple of days but never showed. Workmanship on fence was good. Workers were good and nice. Good guys. I have a problem with the pickets and their return communication. They have never responded to us but once. Also, pickets are warping 4 months since completion and I'm thinking we MAY have received bad boards. Worker did suggest putting on a sealer before winter but 70 boards were bad in September so can't see any value in putting a sealer on bad pickets."

"We called for an estimate and they did not show up. They called the next week and wanted to come that day give an estimate. They came, gave us an estimate and did the work the same day. They cleaned up after themselves and were very respectful of the lawn and other shrubs and flowers. They also made sure we were happy with each tree before they moved on to the next. It was a rough start, but worth giving them a second chance!"

Fencing questions, answered by experts

After finishing a fence project in Winfield, inspect for settling or shifting due to the region’s clay soil within the first month. Ensure all required permits are finalized, and talk with neighbors about ongoing fence maintenance. Regularly check for weather-related damage, apply sealant before winter, and keep detailed records, including photos and warranty information, for insurance or future repairs.

Helpful?

For minor fence repair in Winfield, you can secure loose pickets with weather-resistant screws, realign sagging gates, or patch small chain link holes using repair wire. Always check for shifting posts after heavy rain, as Winfield’s clay soil can cause movement. Use gentle cleaning methods to remove mildew from wood fences. For any leaning posts or electrical issues, consult a local fence professional.

Helpful?

For effective fence maintenance in Winfield, keep a post level, weather-resistant drill bits, wire cutters, and galvanized hardware. Stock up on wood stain or sealant, quick-setting concrete, and spare pickets for repairs. An emergency kit with clamps, wire ties, and weatherproof tape is helpful. Seasonal items like rust remover and ice melt are essential to address Winfield’s changing weather conditions.

Helpful?

Professionals in Winfield confirm property lines using official surveys and check local setback rules before starting fence installation. They mark underground utilities and review any easements to avoid conflicts with neighbors. GPS tools and property records help ensure the fence is placed correctly, and attention to zoning codes prevents future disputes or the need for costly adjustments.

Helpful?

In Winfield, start spring by checking for frost heave and loose posts, then inspect for storm or wind damage in summer. Fall is ideal for applying protective treatments and clearing debris from fence lines. During winter, monitor for snow and ice buildup that can stress the structure. Monthly, check gates, posts, and drainage to catch minor fence maintenance issues early.
