"They did a good job. There was a slight miscommunication over when they were coming, though. They said they'd call earlier this week to schedule a time, but they showed up without calling first after another job hit a snag. I can't complain about them finishing the work a day earlier than expected, though."

"David and his staff pulled out the fencing where the property line dispute was so that we could remove the landscaping in that area. They came back to install the cedar fencing and fix the problem areas (removing a gate, moving another gate) with the wrought iron fencing we were keeping. He did a great job!"

"Star provided the windows, flooring, and stone/tile for our backsplashes and around our fireplace for our new home we had built in 2018. The process selecting the materials was pretty smooth, except they had a pretty small selection for some items. The problems started when they installed our LVP flooring. There were pieces cut too short that eventually moved, exposing the subfloor song the baseboards. It took Star three visits to fix this in our entry way. Now, the same thing has started in our kitchen. Also, they sold us MI windows that have been nothing but problematic. It took them six visits trying to fix the windows before they and the builder decided to replace two of them with casement windows. Now, three years later, those windows are leaking and Star simply told me to pound sand and that I would have to deal with MI on my own. Also, after the LVP flooring was installed the floor started popping when we walk across the living room. As part of the installation, they were supposed to sand down raised areas of the subfloor caused by rain. I don't know if that somehow caused the popping, the weight of the flooring, or what it may have been, but simply reinforcing the subfloor with additional screws would have likely prevented it. Now there isn't an affordable way to fix the popping without pulling up the expensive LVP flooring and replacing it. Thanks, Star. I will never step foot in Star Lumber again. Through example, they have shown time and time again that they don't take care of their customers."

"They did a good job with the installation of the bathtub, but the sales person lied and convinced my dad to take out a loan at a very high interest rate, eventhough my dad had offered to pay cash. Nate, the salesman said to take out a loan because then, if my dad passed away, the loan would be all paid off. This was a lie, and now we also had to pay extra for the interest that we would’ve never had to pay"

Family owned & operated. Cost is determined by the job. Until this Corona Virus has been cleared up we are not taking on any jobs at this time. When it is deemed safe to no longer social distance we will start taking calls and emails again.

"Wayne and his team were great! They were able to start and finish installing my privacy fence earlier than originally anticipated. The communication regarding the project was excellent, the estimate was accurate, the price was very reasonable, and the fence is quality workmanship."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

Post depth for shadowbox fences should be at least two feet deep plus an additional foot for every foot of fence height above four feet. For a standard six-foot fence, this means a minimum depth of 3 feet. This depth helps to protect the structural integrity of your fence in the face of wind, soil movement, and seasonal ground shifts

The legal implications of installing barbed wire fencing will vary from city to city. You should check your local regulations to see if barbed wire fencing is allowed, and what restrictions exist. For instance, some municipalities might require that your fence be a certain height and a certain distance from your home.

A fence costs from $1,500 to $4,000, depending on its material, size, and design.

How long a fence should last depends on the type of fence, but a common split wooden fence should last seven to 10 years. Chain link can last much longer, with wrought iron and concrete lasting decades. If you're interested in your fence lasting as long as possible—and it's made of wood—consider sealing and treating the wood so it can stand up to the environment. Wood is the only fence type that requires this, as concrete and metal are almost always waterproof.

You can use pressure-treated wood for a horizontal fence, but you’ll need to purchase a thicker and higher-quality variety to ensure it doesn’t sag or warp after you install it. Use #2 pine grade lumber and boards and thicker dimensional lumber, such as a two-by-six. You’ll also need to use stainless steel or hot-dipped galvanized fasteners, as the chemicals in the treated lumber will cause regular galvanized fasteners to rust.
