"I used Mr. Handyman to lower some cabinets in our garage, paint them and and also paint our stairs. and a couple doors. Jerry, our technician, did a fabulous job. He worked quickly, offered some advice and we could tell he was experienced. The project was completed in record time and everything looks great - he also cleaned up the area for us and removed the trash left behind. We will be using their services again! Like Share"

"James, Tyler & Paul were great! They were informative and never grouchy that we came out to look or ask a question! James kept us in the loop from the time he entered our property and continued throughout the 2 days they were here to do the job! Easy to talk to and well informed on all the work they did. The foundation of our garage had moved and we had noticed cracks which is why we called Groundwork’s to begin with. Clint was our first contact, he did a detailed inspection of our homes foundation. Gave us a quote and we could decide what to tackle and what we did not need to address. He did not pressure us which we appreciated. We signed a contract and they kept to that contract even when the job ended up taking more hand digging then originally thought. We were very pleased with the teams work ethic and communication."

Window Door Contractors questions, answered by experts

To ensure the longevity and smooth functioning of new windows, regular maintenance is essential. This includes cleaning the glass and frames, inspecting seals for leaks or damage, and reapplying caulking as needed. It is also important to lubricate all moving parts and operating mechanisms to ensure they continue to operate smoothly.

Among the various entry points into your residence, it's crucial to recognize that your basement windows are arguably the most susceptible. Basements usually have windows facing the side and back yards, often concealed from driveway floodlights, porch lighting, and doorbell cameras. Their vulnerability underscores the importance of reinforcing basement window security to safeguard your home from break-ins.

The cost ultimately depends on size, but roughly, the most popular screen materials will set you back anywhere from around $0.25 to over $25 per square foot. Fiberglass and aluminum are usually less expensive at around $0.25 to $0.70 per square foot. Solar screens cost about $7.50 to $15 per square foot, while security screens range from around $10 to $25 per square foot.

A screened-in porch requires maintenance to keep the screens clean and in good shape, and you may have to do some screen repair or replacement from time to time. A screen porch isn’t an all-season porch, so the weather can get in, including wind and rain.

Most windows last for 15 to 30 years, depending on the frame material and the glass quality, but most will require repairs during that time. Windows gradually lose efficiency, so it’s usually best to have a window repair technician inspect and service your windows every five to 10 years. You should also repair your windows if you experience the following:

  • Leaks

  • Drafts

  • Difficulty opening or closing

  • Sudden increases in heating and cooling bills

  • Outdoor noise becomes more audible

  • Signs of physical damage
