Rotten deck boards can sometimes be repaired, but only if the damage is minor. Repairing small patches of rot involves strengthening the damaged area with wood hardener, filler, or epoxy. Both deck footings and deck posts help prop up your deck. However, footings are the bottommost parts of a deck that touch the ground. They’re usually made of concrete. It’s simply a case of bad luck. Regularly inspect all your house’s wood to look for any cracks or signs of mold and mildew. Getting ahead of the problem is the key to ensuring it doesn’t grow out of control.

We recommend hanging a porch swing at least 2.5 to 3 feet from the wall and about 17 inches above the ground to avoid damaging your home. You want enough clearance behind it and on each side of the porch swing to move around safely and avoid the chains rubbing against it.
