"Mr. Jim Gorman who is the owner of the business called me back within a half hour of my email posting. He visited my home 3 days later, inspected things, and told me what the approximate cost would be. He and his helper then installed an entire lightning protection system on both my house and a back garage/storage area. He did things exactly as I wanted in every way. Also threw in a free weathervane which increased the beauty of my home. I would have no objection to recommending this gentleman and his company to anyone who is in need of a competently installed lightning protection system for their home/property. MID-AMERICA LIGHTNING RODS is one fine company run by a man who cares about doing good work according to the latest safety codes etc. Having lost my previous retirement home to lightning, it was very important to me to get this job done and quickly because the thunderstorm season is upon us and with the climate change, those storms are very wicked, especially here out in the country where i live!"

"WB Lightning Rods did an excellent job installing lightening rods on our home. The owner stayed onsite the entire time to supervise the work. He took extra care to plan the rod and cable placement to ensure the proper protection and retain the aesthetics of our home. His crew were knowledgeable, polite, neat and efficient. We could not be more pleased with the results."

"It was pretty rocky. At first. Several appoints made by Tri-State no one ever showed up.Crew showed up to install the Generator before the site survey and did not have necessary equipment or cooperation of Electric or gas company nor call before you dig had been notified. I called Tri-State to warn them the call before dig had never been preformed. They said they'd take care of it, did not happen until right before installation crew came back the second time. The first time they were here they could not have installed the generator even had they had all the parts because none of the utilities had been marked. Finally after about three months the Generac was installed and working. I had several questions that I could never get answered by calling Tri-State. One of the installation team had to come back a couple of weeks later to replace a damaged part and he answered all my questions. The guys who installed the Generac were great, the problem is your guys operation center and call center as far as I can see do not communicate very well. Anyway the generator has worked fine in several power outages this spring. I am happy right now but I live in dread something goes wrong and I have to call Tri-State for help."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

When hiring an electrical professional in Winchester, look for experience with older homes and knowledge of local electrical panel upgrades. Confirm they carry proper insurance and have a track record with both residential and agricultural systems common in the area. Ask about their response time for emergencies and their familiarity with Winchester’s unique weather challenges, ensuring reliable follow-up service.

Helpful?

New homeowners in Winchester should start with a thorough inspection of the electrical panel and consider upgrades if the system is outdated. Installing GFCI outlets in kitchens, bathrooms, and outdoor areas is essential for safety. Update smoke and carbon monoxide detectors to current standards. Adding outlets, upgrading service capacity, and switching to LED lighting will help your home meet modern needs and improve energy efficiency.

Helpful?

When planning electrical projects in Winchester, consider the area’s frequent thunderstorms and seasonal humidity, which can impact wiring and outdoor electrical panels. Many homes in Winchester were built before 1970, so service upgrades may be needed to handle modern electrical loads. Always ensure your project includes surge protection, proper weatherproofing, and meets Indiana’s current electrical codes. Most major projects require permits before starting work.

Helpful?

In Winchester, schedule electrical work if you notice frequent breaker trips, flickering lights, or outlets that feel warm to the touch. Homes built before 1960 or with knob-and-tube or aluminum wiring often need electrical panel upgrades. Plan major projects during mild weather, and consider updates before winter or storm season to keep your home’s electrical system safe and reliable year-round.

Helpful?

The longevity of electrical work in Winchester depends on using weather-resistant materials that handle local humidity and temperature swings. Proper installation, including correct wire gauge and secure grounding, is crucial. Regular inspections and maintenance—especially in Winchester’s older homes—help prevent issues from outdated wiring or storm damage, ensuring your electrical system remains safe and efficient for years to come.
