"Ryan did a fantastic job with our kitchen backsplash. He was professional and worked with our complicated schedule as we were in the midst of moving into our new house. I'll hire Ryan for my bathroom re-tiling project when we're ready."

"I recently hired VillaSilva Flooring to install black porcelain herringbone tile in my laundry room, and I could not be happier with the results. Their professionalism, attention to detail, and craftsmanship were outstanding from start to finish. The project took three days, and their team arrived on time each morning, ready to work. They provided daily updates, keeping me informed on their progress, which I truly appreciated. Their remarkable precision in laying the herringbone pattern ensured perfect alignment and a flawless finish. Every tile was carefully placed, and they ensured everything was flush, creating a smooth, seamless look. If you are looking for a flooring company that values craftsmanship, reliability, and clear communication, I highly recommend VillaSilva Flooring. Their expertise and dedication to excellence truly set them apart. I will be using them again for future projects!"

"Great job all around. The sales rep came to our home and was very transparent about the timeline of the install being 10 weeks out. Let us know we wouldn’t really hear anything until a couple of weeks before the install. They did demo all the way down to the studs, disposed of all trash, re plumbed and installed the new shower in 2 days! We did financing through power pay with them as well. At first you might have a bit of sticker shock, but the quality of the finished product and amazing staff is well worth paying for. Fernando was always on time and amazing to work with. Great job!"

"When I met George, we talked about options for my 2 cars carport at my backyard (measurements & time frame). He's very knowledgeable of what He is doing. He also manages His crew very well. He is Mr Wright to do the right job. My family loves the carport that we don't have to worry about getting wet on rainy season to get in and out of the car. Our carport is very nice, huge, and sturdy. Thanks to R Wright Construction."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

No, painting shower tile doesn’t last and is better reserved as a temporary solution to refreshing the look of old tiles. Shower tile paint may last around one to five years, depending on how well you prep the surface before painting, the type of paint you use, the type of tile in your shower, and how often you use the shower.

Tiling can be DIY with the right tools and skills, but challenges like ensuring evenness and appropriate adhesion often warrant professional handling.

Taking the time to properly prepare your tile backsplash before painting and treating it with care afterward is the best way to ensure its longevity. While the tile can last for the life of the home, you may have to repaint it after a few years. However, using only mild cleanser and water to keep it clean can maximize the paint's lifespan.

How long painted tiles last ultimately comes down to the quality of the paint job and how much wear and tear the tiles get. It’s possible the paint job will only last about six months if the tiles are in a high-traffic area and they weren’t properly cleaned, sanded, and primed prior to painting and sealing. Well-painted tiles in a low-traffic area should last at least a year.

Bathrooms are naturally moisture-rich environments, so choose a durable, water-resistant tile for your tub surround. Porcelain and ceramic are two popular options that are also quite affordable. Glass is another good option that’s also low-maintenance—you just need a glass cleaner like you would use on the bathroom mirror. Natural stone tile is porous, but it’s still a viable option if you choose it in a glazed version.
