"We had a broken drain pipe. They came out quickly, identified the needed repairs and had it fixed that day. Price was reasonable and they were very professional. I will absolutely call them again if needed."

"I had a very difficult drain clog. James worked patiently, diligently and methodically to solve the problem. Twice it looked like we were licked, but James kept at it and got the job done. Acme should be very proud to have a plumber of Jame's caliber on their team."

"Zach with Hoosier Drain Cleaners contacted us quickly and asked for additional information about our issue. He was helpful in explaining what he thought the problem was and then gave options for how he could take care of it. He fixed the issue and stayed to make sure everything was draining well. Cost was very reasonable. Zach was friendly and professional- we would definitely hire him again."

"My bathroom sink had a slow drip that I intended to repair. Then one day the sink clogged and wouldn't drain well even after I used Drain-o. My husband and I decided we would tackle this realatively simple drain repair by unscrewing the U-trap and cleaning it out. On Friday night, we were at Lowe's asking an employee about the plumbing componenets we needed when two tall guys appeared and told us what we needed. Turns out these very helpful and friendly guys were plumbers for The Plumbing Company.

The next day my husband spent several hours working on the repair. By mid-afternoon, we determined that we couldn't fix the problem. I called The Plumbing Company mid-Saturday afternoon. They called me right back and agreed to come to my house that same day. They arrived and fixed the problem promptly. I was very pleased with their promptness, customer service, and price. I highly recommend them."

"Patrick and his son arrived at noon and worked through until around 8:30pm. Tub was very worn on the bottom and required additional work, which increased our cost a little. Did a great job of taping things off and cleaning up. They came back the next day to caulk and finish up the drain. They were only there about 30 minutes on the 2nd day. The tub looks great. It looks brand new. They did a great job with the drain and caulk as well. Nice guys. Easy to work with and trusting. I would definitely use them again!"

Drain Cleaning questions, answered by experts

You should hire a sewer service professional to unclog a main sewer line with tree roots. Tree roots can grow into the main sewer line, and this problem requires a specialized hydro jet, or rooter, that is powerful enough to clear the roots. The tree can also damage the main sewer line, and a professional will need to make repairs or replace the damaged sections. Sewer line replacement costs about $60 to $250 per linear foot.

The cost to unclog a drain varies based on the location and severity of the clog. For simple clogs within your home, such as in a sink, toilet, or shower, hiring a plumber typically costs between $110 and $350, with an average of around $200. Snaking a toilet or sink usually costs between $110 and $275, while a bathtub or shower clog costs about $225.

For a more serious clog in the main sewer line, the cost is higher. Clearing a main line clog generally costs between $200 and $600, with an average of about $380. However, prices can range from as low as $100 for snaking a minor clog to over $1,600, particularly if advanced methods like video inspection and hydrojetting are needed for a large or hard-to-reach blockage. Some severe main line clogs can cost upwards of $1,000 to clear depending on factors like the cause of the clog, its distance from an accessible cleanout, and whether the pipe is located beneath an occupied space (e.g., in an apartment building). You may be able to save money on minor clogs by using a drain snake or bladder yourself.

Professionals use snakes, hydrojetting, or chemical cleaners to clear blockages effectively without damaging pipes.

There are many things that could cause your basement floor drain to back up. One significant cause of a drainage backup is flushing non-flushable items, such as wipes, paper towels, and facial tissue. Other causes of a backed-up basement floor drain include tree roots impeding the drain pipe or an accumulation of hair, oil, and grease.

There are several signs that can indicate your leach lines are broken, failing, or in need of repair, including puddles of water or a marshy consistency to the ground above or around the pipes, slow drainage or plumbing backups inside your home, and noticeable odors or gurgling sounds coming from your leach field. Keeping your septic system properly maintained, including having your septic tank pumped at regular intervals, can help ensure your leach lines stay in good working order for a long time.
