"I hired Coy and his team as GC for a house flip project in Bloomington. I have worked with a lot of general contractors in my day, and this was by far the most pleasant experience I have ever had! The attention to detail was wonderful. The timeliness was perfect and the attitudes were superb. Coy clearly takes pride in what he does, and his team really like working for him. It is tough to find good workers these days, but I have to say it was a complete joy to work with them, and I kept throwing new challenges at them. I will miss not seeing them daily. I can not recommend them enough."

"We bought a home that is a large renovation project and needed a professional to install shower pans and prep the showers for tilework. We had David out and it was clear from the start that he was going to be amazing to work with. David is, by far, the most professional contractor I have ever worked with. He is always on time, never had any excuses, was quick to do his work, and moreover...his work is superior. I cannot say enough good things about our experience and anyone needing tile work or bathroom prep work, look no further. Seriously. David and Dennis are the best and you won't ever be disappointed with their work. I am really glad we found them and will absolutely use them for any projects I have in the future."

"Bob did a great job. He started late in the afternoon and it was dark by the time he got done. He followed up the next day to see how it looked. I wasn’t happy with it and without any complaints Bob came back and made it right. The issue was with how our house was designed but he was able to shim it and make some adjustments to make a very happy customer. His pricing was great and his work ethic is top notch. I’ll definitely be hiring him again."

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Metal stud framing parts include the studs themselves, upper and lower tracks that act as top and bottom wall plates, various angle fasteners and clips, screws for fastening pieces togeher, metal straps, c-channel supports, and thicker steel supporting structures. Roof framing metal components include pre-fabricated trusses, heavy-gauge stud pieces, and various plates and fasteners.

Bow windows need support because they are large and extend out from the exterior wall of the home. Bow windows may extend 1 foot to several feet from the outside of the home, so you’ll need to provide additional support to handle this weight. A window contractor will be able to provide the proper amount of support for your new bow window.

You should avoid drilling or cutting into load-bearing beams because removing material will weaken it and increase the risk of structural damage or even collapse. If you do need to drill into a load-bearing beam, speak with a structural engineer first to discuss where it’s safest to drill and the width and depth of the bit that’s safe to use.

Begin by analyzing the blueprints and gathering the proper materials before framing a house. With the prep stages behind you, begin by framing the floor of a house on the newly set foundation. Exterior and interior walls come next, along with rough openings for doors and windows. Contractors will then add ceiling and roof rafters to finish things off.

A cross brace for a fence gate should stretch from the top corner of the gate’s hinge side to the bottom corner of its latch side at a 45-degree angle to the bottom of the gate. This positioning distributes the bulk of the gate’s weight to the base of the post, taking pressure off the top hinge.
