"Signed a contract to have my 2 car garage floor resurfaced and coated. Paid required deposit and was told it would be 6 weeks out. Company supplies a trailer for you to store contents of your garage while work is being done. I had to contact company at 5 weeks because I had not heard from anyone. I was told there were not sufficient trailers available but if I could store my garage contents they could do the job next week. Then I receive a call that my scheduled day had to be pushed back because of machinery issues. Then the following day I get a call that they have reviewed the condition of my garage floor and it is too far gone to handle the resurfacing process. Total incompetence ! Awaiting the return of my deposit."

How long a pool liner lasts depends on the type of pool. Most in-ground pool liners last between six and 12 years, while aboveground pool liners last anywhere from six to 10 years. You can extend the life of your pool liner by maintaining proper pool chemistry, adding chemicals individually to avoid staining the liner, using a pool cover to protect it from the sun, and keeping sharp objects away from it.

Any number between 7.2 and 7.8 is an ideal pH for swimming pools or 80 to 120 ppm. Your pool testing kit should be able to measure both of these numbers. If your pool’s pH is below this range, the water is too acidic and can cause scaling and damage to pool equipment. If the water’s pH is above this range, it can decrease the effectiveness of necessary chemicals, like chlorine.

Most of the time, though there may be some code variations on the local level, a water source like a pool requires a GFCI breaker. These breakers detect electrical leaks of 5 mA or more and trip the breaker. However, the size of the pool and motor type determine the exact GFCI needs. A GFCI outlet with a reset button may be enough for an aboveground pool with a small motor or pump. Consult a pool electrician to determine the appropriate installation and protection measures needed for your pool.

The regulations for pool fence heights vary by state, so be sure to research what the legal, minimum height is in your area before purchasing or installing a fence. Though every region is different, generally a pool fence must be at least 4 and ½ feet high. If you’re unsure whether you need a fence around your pool, and how high that fence should be, contact a local pool enclosure expert to help you successfully, and safely, move forward.

Aboveground pools take between one day to a few days to install, depending on the pool size and type. Your project may take longer if you’re planning to complete other projects simultaneously, like building a deck around the pool.
