"Awesome professional installation services were provided by Joe B. and Tyler S. Of West Shore Home of a new walk-in shower. The new shower replaced the old original tub and ceramic tile. A vent pipe was rerouted by the installers and a perfect installation was achieved. Highly recommend West Shore Home."
"John is the owner of Midwest Solid Surface. He and his wife Cicily are terrific. Cicily is extremely user friendly and so helpful. John is a consummate professional. Our old undermount stainless steel sink failed. It was ten years old and was abused by the former occupants who were renters. Even worse, the old sink was improperly installed without clips. John uninstalled the old sink and properly installed the new sink I had purchased. He used clips and adhesive silicone. He reconnected the plumbing and cleaned up. We are very pleased with the quality of the work. We recommend Midwest Solid Surface without reservation. If you have a problem that involves solid surfaces or most any kitchen renovation, do yourself a favor and call them!"

"It was excellent! Our family could not be anymore satisfied with Mike and Judy's professional guidance and attention to detail, for our total kitchen remodeling. We are a family of five and Mike worked daily, persistently, to get us back into our kitchen. Everything went smoothly, ordering cabinets and countertops, flooring and tile .We were impressed with Mike's cleanliness. He would sweep and organized his tools and have everything he used for the day put up and out of our way. Mike has an eye for detail. Our family could not be any happier with our new, beautiful, modern kitchen, thanks to Mike and Judy Banter! We would highly recommend them!!"
"I looked for years for someone to repair a tile bathroom job that had been poorly done, including regrouting significant areas. Grout Medic did the job and demonstrated complete professionalism all the way. It wasn’t cheap but they delivered. Showed up promptly, did what they were contracted to do (and a little more!), and Jeremy was a pleasure to work with. I would not hesitate to work with Jeremy in the future."
"Fully gutted and remodeled kitchen with a wall removal. Installed and rearranged appliances, countertops, cabinets, tile backsplash, hardwood floors. Teams were professional, hard-working, responsive. Great consultation when I needed advice. Quickly and fully addressed any concerns or questions. Relationships with subcontractors positive. Would definitely use them again for contracting/remodeling needs."
"I first hired A&M for my business to install a few kitchens cabinets and vanityâ s after seeing A&M quality and attention to detail they quickly became my go to for anything kitchen related including tile backsplashes. I have also hired them to do a custom install at my home."
"Robbie went above and beyond to help us figure out what would work best for our kitchen area and what supplies to purchase. After we got everything we wanted for the job he came in and quickly did the job. I can be a bit of a perfectionist and our backsplash is very precise, neat and clean. We absolutely love it and could not be happier! We will be calling him for our next project for sure!"
"The team who installed our walk-in shower had great knowledge and precision in their assignment. They cleaned up all the mess from the transition and took great care of our hardwood floors and ceramic tile in our home by placing cloths from the front doir through the house to the bath. We have been very pleased with the project and the team we were assigned!"
Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts
Yes, provided you aren’t installing drywall over it. But you can skim coat it, apply new tile right on top, paint it, or stencil it. For more budget- and DIY-friendly options, you can install beadboard or apply decals. Just make sure that the current tiles are in good condition and prepped well for the paint or adhesive to stick.
Ideally, you should remove tile before installing hardwood floors, but there are good reasons not to. Removing stubborn tile can be a labor-intensive job that adds days to the project. The subfloor beneath the tiles could also be damaged during the process, meaning you’d have to repair the subfloor before installing the new hardwood floor.
The tile spacing you should use will depend on the tile and where you’re installing it. Choosing the right tile spacers to maintain a consistent gap between your tiles is tricky. Generally, tile spacing shouldn’t be less than 2 millimeters on walls and 3 millimeters on floors because of stress relief requirements. Getting it wrong can result in uneven tiles and early repairs.
Yes, it’s always a good idea to keep a box or two of spare tiles after a home renovation project. Tiles can crack from improper installation, heavy foot traffic, and impact from drops. Having some extra tile on hand can make replacement fast, easy, and affordable. Plus, some manufacturers might discontinue particular colors or styles, and slight variations in tile colors between batches could mean mismatched tiles even if your product isn’t discontinued. Having a few spare tiles in storage can help avoid these issues, as well.
While you shouldn’t use thinset mortar on its own as a floor leveler, it can work alongside other products to help level floors. For instance, you could start with a self-leveling compound, let that dry, then apply backer board with thinset mortar to help fully even out the floors ahead of laying tile.
