"They were prompt and completed the project quickly. I felt like it was well worth the money. Also, the contractor made very good suggestions to improve my plan. I will use them again."

"His work is wonderful.  His siding work looks great and went up both smoothly and timely.  His carpentry is outstanding too.  He is
prompt and clean as well as very organized, honest, and reasonably priced.
Charles is always willing to help with any project.  He is very knowledgeable.
He was able to fix the wrongs from the prior contractor and get the job back on track.  He is good at project management and timing to make sure work is done only once.  He is also very good at conserving on material spending and usage.
Charles will be our contractor for all of our jobs going forward.

"This review is based on experience and not work done or completed. I would at least expect this company to request Angie's list refund the 'deal' since the service/work could not be started for 3 months. I had to handle that process alone by making two calls to Angie's customer service line.  I have found another contractor I am pleased with on my own and the work is nearly complete now. The original company had an appointment to look at the bathroom that he never cancelled nor showed up for, I had written a message to them trying to confirm or cancel... no reply was sent to me. I understand them not being available but then I did not understand just not having any more communication with me since I had $5500 already prepaid for the work. I received the refund thru Angie's list after a few days finally.

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Using a steel frame may raise the value of your home. Steel is more heat resistant, has better longevity, and doesn’t need any upkeep compared to traditional wood. You can also customize a steel build a little easier than other materials like brick, concrete, and vinyl—which have trouble bending and adapting to renovations.

Balcony construction or replacement typically requires a building permit from your local permitting authority. Safety and building integrity are the main reasons for the need to obtain a permit and the subsequent inspections. In some cases, especially cantilevered balconies, your municipality may also require the oversight and signature of a structural engineer.

There are a few easy ways to locate a wall stud without a stud finder. First, try knocking on the wall with your knuckles. Most parts of the wall will sound hollow, but when you tap over a stud, it will sound more solid. Alternatively, since studs are spaced 16 or 24 inches apart, you can measure those distances from a corner of the room, which will always have a stud.

Framing a house with steel generally takes less time—around five to eight weeks—than most building materials. The steel components can also be made quickly off-site and manufactured with pre-punched holes for running piping and electrical wiring, which will lessen the prep work and extra labor during construction.

Yes, a 2x6 should hold a porch swing and safely support the load. A smaller joist runs the risk of it not offering enough support for the swing. If you have a joist smaller than 2x6, add additional bolstering support.
