Floors are protected with drop cloths, furniture with plastic. The first step is to fix all drywall damages, cracks, nicks and holes. We use fiberglass tape and Easy Sand 20 compound. Walls are sanded with a pole sander prior painting. All baseboards and door /window trims are taped and caulked. The painters apply two coats of paint. Usually we use Sherwin Williams Emerald paint. Your total project cost depends on the wallpaper quality, room type and size, and whether you must remove old wallpaper. We don’t recommend wallpapering over older paper. That’s because creating layers of glue can invite bubbling or excess moisture on the wall’s surface. You should also prime your wall before applying wallpaper and smooth the wall as much as you can, and another layer of wallpaper complicates this process.

If you prefer peel-and-stick to traditional wallpaper, you can skip the priming process. Many manufacturers don't require an additional primer if you’re installing peel-and-stick wallpaper to painted walls. However, if you’re applying peel-and-stick wallpaper to unfinished drywall, you’ll need to apply a primer first.

Peel-and-stick wallpaper isn’t the best choice to cover wood paneling. Because paneling has a textured, uneven surface with grooves and peel-and-stick wallpaper has weaker adhesive than traditional wallpaper, you’d need to do a significant amount of prep work to get the wallpaper to lay flat and adhere properly. Peel-and-stick wallpaper works best on painted or primed drywall without a textured finish.
