Floors are protected with drop cloths, furniture with plastic. The first step is to fix all drywall damages, cracks, nicks and holes. We use fiberglass tape and Easy Sand 20 compound. Walls are sanded with a pole sander prior painting. All baseboards and door /window trims are taped and caulked. The painters apply two coats of paint. Usually we use Sherwin Williams Emerald paint. Most experts would not recommend hanging wallpaper over existing wallpaper more than twice. Even if the walls are in good condition and primed well, that third layer of wallpaper could cause problems with adhesion. While peel-and-stick wallpapers require no time to cure, the adhesives for other types of papers will take a day or two to dry and up to three weeks to fully cure. The differences are the type of paper, the type of adhesive, and the humidity and temperature in the space.
