"MNM did an excellent job hanging wallpaper in our nursery. The wallpaper looks terrific and there were some difficult parts to the job. MNM was easy to deal with at a reasonable price and handled everything very well. I would hire them again."

"Steve and his employees did an immaculate job restoring the walls of the home I inherited from my grandparents. 80% of the house had wallpaper from 1981. Project was started and completed on time and perfectly. I currently have other ongoing projects with them, including painting work and future planned work, so I will be updated or adding reviews in the future. Thank you, Steve!"

Here's what went right :

  • -  The wallpaper removal job went smoothly, and the workmen vacuumed and cleaned afterwards.

  • -  One of the workmen carried away 2 bags of debris from the wallpaper job, after I mentioned that I had no easy way to dispose of them personally. This was much appreciated.

  • Here's what went wrong :

  • -  This provider twice cancelled scheduled appointments ? in both cases minutes before arrival time.
    • -  Rescheduling the first appointment was difficult, as the provider did not respond to my emails or phone calls. I eventually had to ask the Angie team to facilitate rescheduling.

    • -  Despite my repeated requests for changes to be communicated to me by phone (I do not have a smart phone which captures email, and it is not possible for me to constantly check personal email for possible messages because of work commitments), the owner refused to comply. The reason he gave is that Angie urges its providers to use email in order to preserve copies of communications -- which is understandable. However, given client preferences, it is always possible to call, then follow up with an email for the record. This awkward method of communication made the cancellations and rescheduling even more personally inconvenient.

    • -  Prior to painting, I covered some of the furniture with sheets, and left drop cloths to cover the rest after the pieces had been moved away from the walls; however, the cloths were not used and the top of a hutch now contains drops of white paint from when the ceiling was painted.

    • -  The painting job was sub-standard. There were 2 patches on the wall which were not fully covered and in which the underlying wall showed through. In addition, the painter did not remove a wall vent before painting, instead painting around and slightly over the edges of the vent. This resulted in small patches of paint peeling off when I removed the vent to clean it a week and a half after the job was completed. I had to repair all of these defects personally.

    • -  The owner indicated he would call me after the final work was completed to ensure everything was satisfactory. I did not hear from him.

"Brian has done a great job thus far and he is very personable. We hired him for some odd jobs that we needed done, some deck repairs, some dry wall and painting, lighting etc. He is very reasonable on pricing and very helpful with his suggestions. We are pleased with his work and would definitely hire him in the future for more work."

Wallpapering questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can put wallpaper in a bathroom, but whether it's a good idea depends on several factors. Because bathrooms are high-humidity areas, it's crucial to choose a water-resistant wallpaper, such as one made of vinyl. Proper wall preparation is also critical to ensure the paper adheres well, even after many steamy showers. The wallpaper's placement also affects its longevity; it will hold up better on an accent wall or away from direct water contact, rather than immediately next to a shower. A well-ventilated bathroom will yield the best results.

The average cost to install or hang wallpaper is around $575 per room or project, with typical prices ranging from $200 to $1,500. Costs can be higher for custom or luxury products. Since project size varies, it's often helpful to estimate labor costs per square foot, which generally fall between $1 and $7, with an average of $4 per square foot. The total cost depends on several factors, including the quality and type of wallpaper, the size and type of the room, and whether old wallpaper must be removed first. Opting for less expensive materials like peel-and-stick wallpaper or choosing to do the installation yourself can lower the overall cost. For the most accurate estimate, it is best to have a professional inspect the space and provide a quote.

The color of the paint, its opacity, and the depth of the texture on the paper all affect how many coats of paint you need to apply to paintable wallpaper. You'll need at least two coats of paint to ensure even coverage. Don’t be surprised if you need to apply three coats if the embossing is very deep or if you use a dark color.

Wall panels offer functional and aesthetic benefits. From a practical standpoint, panels can improve your home's insulation and energy efficiency, especially if you opt for solid wood panels. They can also help protect your existing wall.

Aesthetically, wall panels have a knack for adding dynamic texture, warmth, and sophistication to a room. And thanks to their many different shapes, sizes, and styles, wall panels can elevate a wide variety of home designs.

Finally, it’s relatively easy to cover wall panels, so you have some flexibility if you end up not liking the look over time.

Having dated, peeling, or otherwise damaged wallpaper can decrease the value of your property, so removing that before listing your house is nearly always a good idea; however, since wallpaper tends to be a personal style choice, potential buyers may or may not love your aesthetic as much as you do.

Love the look of wallpaper but want to consider property value as well? Stick with something that is easy to change. If you are thinking of selling soon, make sure your wallpaper hanging is on-point and looks professional with no crooked seams, evenly matched patterns, and minimal bubbling or other imperfections.
