"I am so torn on this company. The sales process was smooth and prices were on par with everyone else. The set the expectation initially was that it would be about a 2 month wait to get the fence. I understood. Their process of scheduling and overall communication was TERRIBLE. I had paid a $2000 downpayment and didn't get any communication when that two month time frame came and went. I would have to reach out to them to give me schedule updates and emails would go unanswered. So I'd have to call for updates. Then that time frame would come and pass with again no communication. I gave them a lot of feedback on why this lack of communication felt very shady. It sounds like they just had a lot of delays due to covid, weather and staffing, and I totally get that. Pushing the time out didn't bother me, it was just the lack of follow up that completely irked me. They need a better system of updating customers on schedule changes. After a total of 4 months, the fence was finally installed. The crew did it in two days and worked hard, even in bitter cold temps. The actual install was wonderful and the fence is beautiful. No complaints there. Just hope they can organize themselves better for future customers having a better experience."

It is just me,but I do have help when needed.I will do sub-contracting.

"DO NOT HIRE THIS MAN! We initially hired Scott after he responded to an on line local group. He was kind, sincere and met my husband at our home to review contract. His prices were 1/3 of the competitors. The Job was for electrical work in our new home was over 8,000. He seamed eager to be of assistance. Though he we hired him for odd jobs at our existing home while our new house was being built by the Amish, he was usually late and seemed plagued with excuses of health issues or family trouble that kept him from completing a project in a timely manner. But in the end, he came through with those small jobs. When the new house was ready for electrical work back in mid June, he was at the house daily. He had a small crew of teenage sons and a friend at times. Work was slow but he plugged along. We liked his sincerity, his down to earth spirit, so we hired him for the plumbing job as well. He continued to be attentive and aimed to please us, though work was slow. We then hired him for other jobs in the home that he said he could easily get done. From approx June to Aug,, Scott was down here approx 5 days a week. He had a couple health episode, a son's legal problem, a stalled vehicle of his and his son that kept him from coming to property at times but we were very understanding. It just gets worse from here. Many projects, were poorly done. Scott failed to cap off simple T drains and many of our household items, including family heirlooms , we were storing in the basement of the new home were covered in grey water from the toilet. Although we cleaned them some heirlooms, others had to be trashed. He was slow to fix the problem and we had further leaks from his plumbing job. He bought our AC /heat pump and furnace from a scratch and dent dealer in Lebanon with no warranty. Unbeknownst to us. He asked for money for duct work, that we provided to him and never got it. He would ask for money to purchase materials and never produce the items. He seemed to have a of days where he had to show up for child support court. and sometime at the end of August, he claimed his bank account was frozen by the courts and he was unable to produce items we had already paid him to purchase. He then began not answering calls, not showing up, It became a daily game of asking him if he was coming, him telling us that he would be there at a certain time and never showing. In the last 3 weeks we have seen him at the house approx 5 times. And he stayed for approx 1 -2 hours. The last straw was after 4 days of not answering calls and not showing up, he showed up an hour late, and as soon as I had left to run and errand, he left right behind me, not to answer the phone at all. We offered to help him in gas money to get down to Rockville from New Richmond, pay extra adult crew members just to get the house moving His reponse was always that he was going thru a hardship and we are his first priority. And that he WAS going to get us done. His last message to me was a cryptic complaint that he didn't like it that we doubted his abilities after pointing out some serious concerns in his work. The current state of our house? We have no duct work, we have 20% of electrical not done. A bathroom not done, Insulation gaps in the ceiling, railing that has been purchased but not done. a furnace and AC unit with no warrantly and it is coming into late September. We fronted him on painting, flooring and setting up kitchen. This is only started and a long way to go to be done. We are out over 30 K in monies. We finally fired him yesterday after being here for one hour and never calling us back to speak with us personally. We have asked for some monies back. And have contacted a lawyer for litigation. Don't be fooled by his kindness or sincerity. He is a charlatan and is plagued with unfortunate events in his life that prohibit him from actually finishing his job. I believe this is his M. O. and needs to be shut down."

Animal Fencing questions, answered by experts

In Lafayette, signs your fence needs replacement include leaning posts, sagging sections, or shifting lines—often due to freeze-thaw cycles common in the area. Look for wood rot at the base, rusted metal, or cracked vinyl, which signal weather damage. If your fence doesn’t meet current height or setback rules, or lacks proper permits, it’s time to consider a professional fence installation update.

Helpful?

As a new homeowner in Lafayette, prioritize fence installation that clearly marks your property boundaries to avoid disputes. Privacy fencing is especially valuable for backyards, as Lafayette’s neighborhoods often have close lot lines. If you have pets or children, consider a secure containment area. For homes near wooded spaces, wildlife-resistant garden fencing helps protect landscaping from deer and small animals.

Helpful?

For Lafayette homeowners, start each spring by checking fence posts for winter shifting and applying a protective sealant. In summer, inspect for storm or insect damage and trim back overgrown plants. Fall is ideal for clearing debris and tightening hardware before cold weather sets in. During winter, remove snow buildup and check for ice damage. Keep a maintenance log and schedule periodic professional inspections.

Helpful?

Your Lafayette property is well-suited for fencing if you have stable, well-drained soil and manageable slopes. Homes near busy streets or campus areas benefit from privacy fencing to reduce noise and increase security. Always review neighborhood or HOA guidelines and check for utility easements, mature trees, or setback requirements that could impact fence installation on your lot.

Helpful?

In Lafayette, successful fencing projects rely on deep-set concrete footings to handle seasonal freeze-thaw, as well as proper drainage to prevent water damage. Using pressure-treated wood or UV-resistant materials helps fences withstand local weather. Hiring experienced professionals familiar with Lafayette’s soil conditions ensures correct installation. Routine inspections and prompt repairs after storms further extend your fence’s lifespan.
