Earl and Dorothy Knapp started Sundown Gardens in 1949 by specializing in growing peonies and perennials for retail sales. They grew and cultivated plant material as cut flowers for purchase. In 1966, Stevan Knapp, Earl and Dorothy’s only child, started the landscape division. To complete the full-service lawn and garden package, Sundown Gardens offered a landscape maintenance service in 1993. The service provides landscaping, hardscape and lawn services. To this day, the service customizes groundskeeping plans for client properties primarily throughout Indianapolis and surrounding areas, including but not limited to: Zionsville, Carmel, Westfield, Fishers and Geist.
