No travel charges.

"The project went very well, and our teens now have the best bathroom in the house. We went from a pink tiled bath with an old, single sink vanity (pink, also), pink tub and pink toilet to an updated bath with a separate toilet / bath area, plenty of built in storage, and two sink areas. Tom has done many projects for us and all have been above expectations. Tom is great about making sure the details are done right. I had specific ideas about what I wanted in this bath project, and they were executed flawlessly."

Coffman Construction is a small business of 2 to 3 people which keeps overhead down and save my customers money. If I can do your job myself I will but as the job gets bigger then I will bring Kevin and Kasey in to get the job done in a timely manner. I do not cut corners. If I will not do something to my home I will not do it to yours. Times are tough and everyone is trying to survive, we are in this together so I do not charge a fee to come look at your needs but will have to take into consideration fuel and travel on the bid you receive. I do have a Plumber, Electrican, and a mason that do all my jobs that fit their special talents so even if I can not do the job myself I can get you in touch with all right people to get it done.

Hiring a builder or contractor will be the most important thing you do when taking on a large project like building a custom home or renovating your existing home. Please proceed cautiously and make sure you feel 100% comfortable with whomever you hire. This can best be achieved by asking the right questions and thoroughly getting to know the company and people you will be working with. No one walks into a job interview and starts negotiating money up front. Hiring a builder should be no different. Before you discuss costs, first make sure you are working with a qualified builder. Blue Door Builders will do everything to make sure your project is a fun and an exciting experience, one that you will remember fondly for years to come. Please feel free to ask us about our past projects or for more client referrals. Hopefully you will be able to learn a lot about us by viewing our website, but if you cannot find what you need to answer your questions, just ask us.

"The inspection went well. I would rate it as Fair. The inspector made some observations and said that everything looked okay despite some of the beams sagging in the cellar. It was made clear that old houses have some sagging. There was nothing given in writing. A year later when we were trying to sell the home, I attempted several times to contact the company to see if I could get something in writing about the structural integrity of the house. I was even willing to have them come out again for an inspection, but I did not get a response to the emails or voicemails I sent. If I could get something in writing, I would have given the service a B."

Since 1976, A-1 Indiana Waterproofing Inc. has provided over 40,000 customers dry basements and structural repairs. We are proud of the fact that we have become Indiana’s "oldest & most trusted" basement foundation repair company.

"This was the worst contractor I have ever worked with. It's hard to list all of the issues, but the rude and confrontational attitude from the owner is my top complaint. The workers did not wear masks while jackhammering out the concrete and did not bring a fan. They ended up removing my dryer vent and putting my box fan in the window for ventilation. They did not reinstall the dryer vent. Concrete that was laid over drains was bumpy and uneven. Workers could not explain how to use the battery back-up sump pump that was installed. The sump pump drain pipe was put in the middle of the yard to leave a large pool of water in the yard. Nothing was done to cover the pipe or make it drain off into landscaping. They also rebuilt a stone wall, which Wayne had said would be done with gravel backing and rebar. Instead the workers just restacked the blocks that had fallen over. When I expressed displeasure at the end of the day, the workers would not leave until I signed off. After a long conversation with Wayne over the phone I felt forced to sign off for work I was unhappy with. A few weeks after work was completed there was leaking in the basement again. Wayne came out to inspect, but said the leaking was coming from underneath a different part of the house that he didn't work with. I stated that he guaranteed the basement would be dry and it was still leaking. He became confrontational and abusive with me and even threatened to sue me. I ended up dropping my complaints because I did not want to deal with him any more."

Structural Engineering questions, answered by experts

Completing structural engineering projects in Indianapolis offers immediate benefits like enhanced safety, compliance with local codes, and improved structural inspection outcomes. Over time, well-executed projects reduce the risk of costly repairs from soil movement or water damage, extend the lifespan of your property, and can increase resale value. Investing in structural improvements also supports energy efficiency and long-term peace of mind for homeowners.

Helpful?

In Indianapolis, you’ll find full-service structural engineering firms, foundation repair specialists, and contractors focused on historic building restoration. Some companies concentrate on residential structural repairs, such as reinforcing load-bearing walls, while others handle commercial or industrial projects. Consulting engineers are also available for structural inspections and forensic analysis, so you can select a contractor whose specialty aligns with your specific project.

Helpful?

Indianapolis experiences frequent freeze-thaw cycles, heavy spring rains, and occasional flooding, all of which influence structural engineering decisions. Foundations must be designed to resist soil expansion and contraction, while roofs and exterior walls need to withstand snow loads and high winds. Proper drainage systems and moisture barriers are crucial to protect against water damage and maintain the stability of load-bearing structures.

Helpful?

When hiring a structural engineering pro in Indianapolis, prioritize experience with local soil movement and freeze-thaw cycles. Ensure they’re familiar with city building codes and have completed structural inspection projects in the area. Ask about their process for collaborating with local contractors and request examples of past work on both residential and commercial properties to confirm their expertise matches your project’s needs.

Helpful?

In Indianapolis, structural engineering maintenance often includes routine structural inspections to monitor foundation settlement, especially due to the region’s expansive clay soils. Homeowners should regularly seal foundation cracks, maintain sump pumps, and clear gutters to prevent water intrusion during spring rains. For steel or concrete components, applying anti-corrosion treatments and checking load-bearing walls for shifting or bowing helps ensure long-term structural integrity.
