Numerous residential and commercial clients endorse our work. A listing of these clients is available on request. 6 employees. Uses subs for electrical & plumbing. Cost is determined by the job. No travel charges.

"The project went very well, and our teens now have the best bathroom in the house. We went from a pink tiled bath with an old, single sink vanity (pink, also), pink tub and pink toilet to an updated bath with a separate toilet / bath area, plenty of built in storage, and two sink areas. Tom has done many projects for us and all have been above expectations. Tom is great about making sure the details are done right. I had specific ideas about what I wanted in this bath project, and they were executed flawlessly."

Hiring a builder or contractor will be the most important thing you do when taking on a large project like building a custom home or renovating your existing home. Please proceed cautiously and make sure you feel 100% comfortable with whomever you hire. This can best be achieved by asking the right questions and thoroughly getting to know the company and people you will be working with. No one walks into a job interview and starts negotiating money up front. Hiring a builder should be no different. Before you discuss costs, first make sure you are working with a qualified builder. Blue Door Builders will do everything to make sure your project is a fun and an exciting experience, one that you will remember fondly for years to come. Please feel free to ask us about our past projects or for more client referrals. Hopefully you will be able to learn a lot about us by viewing our website, but if you cannot find what you need to answer your questions, just ask us.

"The inspection went well. I would rate it as Fair. The inspector made some observations and said that everything looked okay despite some of the beams sagging in the cellar. It was made clear that old houses have some sagging. There was nothing given in writing. A year later when we were trying to sell the home, I attempted several times to contact the company to see if I could get something in writing about the structural integrity of the house. I was even willing to have them come out again for an inspection, but I did not get a response to the emails or voicemails I sent. If I could get something in writing, I would have given the service a B."

Since 1976, A-1 Indiana Waterproofing Inc. has provided over 40,000 customers dry basements and structural repairs. We are proud of the fact that we have become Indiana’s "oldest & most trusted" basement foundation repair company.

"This was the worst contractor I have ever worked with. It's hard to list all of the issues, but the rude and confrontational attitude from the owner is my top complaint. The workers did not wear masks while jackhammering out the concrete and did not bring a fan. They ended up removing my dryer vent and putting my box fan in the window for ventilation. They did not reinstall the dryer vent. Concrete that was laid over drains was bumpy and uneven. Workers could not explain how to use the battery back-up sump pump that was installed. The sump pump drain pipe was put in the middle of the yard to leave a large pool of water in the yard. Nothing was done to cover the pipe or make it drain off into landscaping. They also rebuilt a stone wall, which Wayne had said would be done with gravel backing and rebar. Instead the workers just restacked the blocks that had fallen over. When I expressed displeasure at the end of the day, the workers would not leave until I signed off. After a long conversation with Wayne over the phone I felt forced to sign off for work I was unhappy with. A few weeks after work was completed there was leaking in the basement again. Wayne came out to inspect, but said the leaking was coming from underneath a different part of the house that he didn't work with. I stated that he guaranteed the basement would be dry and it was still leaking. He became confrontational and abusive with me and even threatened to sue me. I ended up dropping my complaints because I did not want to deal with him any more."

Structural Engineering questions, answered by experts

Stone, marble, and brick are common building materials of Neoclassical architecture, though you will also find wood flooring and a range of natural stone tiles. Since several home styles fall under Neoclassical architects' umbrella, a range of building materials—including traditional wood framing—will make an appearance.

A few hours for inspection, with a detailed report following in a week.

Foundation cracks that are 1/8 inch wide or less, aren’t uneven across the gap, and don’t continue widening over time are usually just normal settling cracks and don’t suggest structural issues. Horizontal cracks and stair-step cracks on foundation walls, any cracks that continue widening, are wider than 1/8 inch, or where one side juts out beyond the other, are often indicative of structural damage.

The depth of any foundation style depends on your climate and how deep the frost line is, as building code requires that the footers of a foundation—which are built into a monolithic slab—sit at least a foot below the frost line. At the southern tip of Florida, for example, a monolithic slab foundation would only need to sit 12 inches under the soil at the widest parts. On some parts of the Canadian border, the frost line is 100 inches, which would mean a minimum of 112 inches, which is prohibitively deep for a monolithic slab.

Any issue that affects the structural integrity or soundness of a home is considered a structural issue. In addition to foundation cracks, other signs of structural issues include roof leaks, bowing walls, sloping floors, gaps around windows and doors, and more.
