As a realtor, I visit a lot of homes and I specifically asked a homeowner about their basement contractor after seeing Chris’s finish level. He finished our basement recently and his team did a great job. We love how it turned out and working with Chris was fun!

Chris is very professional and gives written statements along the way. On first meeting he was very down to earth and understood our intentions with our home. He made a few suggestions which turned out to be huge in the overall look and finish of the project. His workers were on time and cleaned up every time they left. Chris stayed on top of the job and communicated with us throughout the entire process. I couldn't be more pleased the outcome and experience.

Chris and his team remodeled our main bathroom and were excellent to work with. Chris provided regular updates about his team’s schedule and project pricing., and was clear and concise when doing so. If you are wary about hiring a contractor for home remodeling, here is your sign that Johnson & Johnson is a good company to do business with.

Chris Johnson and his team did a great job adding a second bathroom to my home. I own a 100+ year old home which previously did not have a bathroom on the second floor. The bathroom fit snugly into existing master bedroom space. I say snug because this bathroom is quite small by modern American standards (maybe ~25 square feet), which means almost all work Chris had to do was custom designed or modifications of existing product. Also of course, nothing in my house is level/square. Chris worked with me all along the way to make everything was function and also very good looking. He helped me understand why he wanted to do things a certain way when we differed on design opinions in a respectful and honest way. I would use Chris's services again if I needed them and if he would actually be willing to work on my nightmare old home with endless surprises behind every wall.

[Member Name Removed], thank you for taking the time to leave feedback regarding your experience with us! It was truly a pleasure working with your family on your "snug" bathroom. Keep in touch!
My wife and I were extremely impressed with Chris and his team. Everyone that came to the house to work was very polite and respectful. They did a great job of containing their mess and always cleaning up every day. With a toddler in the house, this was incredibly important to my wife and I to ensure there were no tools, nails, etc left out where he could potentially hurt himself. As with any project, there were a few hiccups along the way, but Chris did a great job of quickly explaining them and offering workable solution. He was also very flexible and accommodating working with our hectic schedules and often starting later than normal to allow the baby time to sleep. Overall, would work with his team again in a heart beat!

We had a clear Vision of what we wanted. We got 5 consultations and estimates. After talking with Chris Johnson, we immediately knew he understood what we wanted and could make it happen at a reasonable cost. Of note, his estimate was accurate and he stayed within budget. No project is without issues, but all small issues were dealt with professionally and to our satisfaction, The end result is a high quality, beautiful, custom, all-season room addition with amazing woodwork and aesthetic appeal! We noticed multiple times how his standards exceeded building code requirements and he was great at anticipating possible issues we hadn’t even considered. Once the room was almost complete, we knew he was who we wanted to trust with building the decks. They also turned out great. And the story continues, now we’re working on some interior upgrades too with his expertise. I definitely recommend him for your next project!

Christine, Thank you for choosing and trusting us with your home improvement project. We consider it a great honor to get to know You and Bob over these few weeks as the project progressed and grew. You are so right, "no project is without issues". And, we are super happy that we were able to resolve all issues to your satisfaction. Chris is absolutely not afraid of possible issues that might arise during a remodeling project, and it is (lack of fear) the mark that he looks for in his workers and Sub-contractors. We can not control what might go wrong, but we are confident we can find a solution and complete the task to our customers satisfactions. Thanks again for the opportunity to work with You and Bob on these wonderful projects, and we hope to serve you again in the near future in some way. Eusi.

As part of my plan to refurbish the major elements of my house in preparation for retirement, I contracted Johnson & Johnson Renovating & Remodeling company to remodel the master bathroom and adjoining closet. The work took about a month starting from 7/20/2016 and was pretty invasive to our daily life due to its central importance to us. Despite the inconvenience of the remodeling work in the bathroom and having to use the second upstairs bathroom instead, the inconvenience in the end turned out to be well worth it. All of the fixtures and shelving were removed from the bathroom and closet and a good portion of the drywall was removed from the bathroom. The end result transformed a bottom-of the line shower/tub combo to a tiled walk in shower with additional body jets. The dual sink and vanity was upgraded with a custom installation with about three times the storage as the original installation including new sinks and faucets. The lighting was replaced with LED recessed lighting. The carpet floor was replaced with travertine stone tile throughout. A new comfort height toilet, new medicine cabinet and a modern glass framed sliding trolley door was included to separate the bathroom from the closet. The remodeling seemed to take longer than expected probably due to its extreme inconvenience on our daily lives, but the end result is magnificent and well worth the wait. Although my wife had pretty strong feeling against trading a tub for a walk in shower, she is completely won over and both of us wish we had done this years earlier. Chris and his men performed very good work, the end result was high quality and satisfied even my wife's requirements. I do recommend Chris and his company for others as well. This was my third contracting job with Johnson & Johnson Renovating & Remodeling company.

Johnson & Johnson Renovating & Remodeling company was chosen to replace the remaining half of the windows in my house with Alside "Mezzo" vinyl windows along with the Alside vinyl siding. The job included replacing the gutters and wrapping all exposed fascia boards with formed aluminum sheeting which does not require painting and resists rot and other damage. Also, after the vinyl siding was stripped from the house, an additional layer of house wrap was installed to help seal it. The work started 10/5/2015 and was completed 10/10/2015. The various work crews who performed the work did so in a very professional fashion with no down time for any reason. Once they started my house, they remained on the job until the work was complete. Johnson & Johnson Renovating & Remodeling company earned this contract because of a smaller previous job that they completed very well and they did not disappoint with this much larger one. The owner, Chris, was on site daily and provided his expert guidance throughout. I am still very satisfied with this work 4 years after the job was completed. I am submitting this review because Chris and his company deserve the review and I have had time to write this review, and others, lately. I recommend this company for small and large remodeling projects. This was my second contracting job with Johnson & Johnson Renovating & Remodeling company.

replacement windows

Through the help of Angie's List in 2014, I contacted the Johnson & Johnson Renovating & Remodeling company by phone and spoke with the owner, Chris Johnson. The contracting job entailed replacing half of the windows in my house with new ones because the double side by side windows in the master bedroom were leaking. Chris came out that week and estimated the job at a reasonable price so we entered into an agreement for Johnson & Johnson to perform the work. Part of the reason to only replace half of the windows was because I needed immediate service for the leaking master bedroom windows plus I wanted to gauge the quality of the work the contractor provided on a smaller job rather than a large one. Chris and Eric performed the agreed upon work in a very timely manner with a high level of quality much to my satisfaction. The work was performed from 11/5/2014 through 11/22/2014 using Alside "Mezzo" vinyl windows. The window replacement was difficult in places but the installation was done professionally and the house exterior showed no signs of being disturbed after the work was completed. As a result of this work, I decided to continue using Johnson & Johnson in the future with several more jobs, most notably, replacing the remaining windows along with the vinyl siding the next year. I was and still am very pleased with this company's work and in particular with Chris's and his crew's work ethic and work quality. This was my first contracting job with Johnson & Johnson Renovating & Remodeling company.

In November of 2016, I asked Chris Johnson owner of Johnson & Johnson Renovating & Remodeling company to install a very nice Therma-Tru fiberglass front entry door (with multi-point locking system) in my house. Chris himself came out and completed the work, the door was already on site. It took Chris a couple of hours to complete the job along with a little of my help and that of a reciprocating saw, but the installation was excellent. The door is plumb in two dimensions, swings without issue and the locking system engages perfectly. As always, hauling away the demo material is included in the job. I am very satisfied with Chris and his work. This was my fourth contracting job with Johnson & Johnson Renovating & Remodeling company. In the pictures, the door trim is not included as I trimmed it out after Chris was done with the install.

We received four estimates to finish our basement. Before signing a contract with Johnson & Johnson, we asked to physically go and visit other completed basement projects of previous customers. Chris readily agreed and we visited three other basement projects. Once we agreed on a budget, Johnson & Johnson started the project and worked every day, including occasional weekends, to stay on a timeline. They were efficient, very clean, and very professional and finished in a timely manner. I would recommend Johnson & Johnson with confidence.

Our experience in contacting and hiring Johnson & Johnson: We received a referral from a friend who had used a couple of contractors in the past. Johnson & Johnson was one of a handful of contractors that we contacted and they were the first to contact us back. Chris made an appointment to come out to meet and talk to us about what we needed work on which was our Master Bathroom. Chris visually inspected the area we wanted the work we wanted to be performed and discussed some possible options to consider. He came back quickly with the initial price quote. After working with us on every detail on options and colors, Chris detailed out all the materials and labor costs on the quote (which was very fair) and we hired Johnson & Johnson. Our situation and the type of work needed: We bought a house in 2015 that was built in the 90s and had two other prior owners. The master bathroom went through a remodel by the second owners a few years prior that was poorly done, It did not pass inspection and the prior owners were supposed to remediate and fix the issue prior to our closing which they supposedly did and it passed re-inspection for us to close on the house. What we found was a patch job and resulted in black mold resurfacing and continuing to eat away at the floor and walls of our shower. Our experience of the construction process and team: Chris and his team used every precaution to seal up that room before, during demo to remove and eradicate the mold as well as during construction to keep the dust from going everywhere. Upon completing demo, they found more damage than initially anticipated. Chris walked us through what they found, what needed to be done about it and if there was additional cost he again broke it down by materials and labor so you knew exactly what to expect and to keep track of expenses. We fully anticipated this because of the situation so this was not a surprise. They put down protection for carpeted areas and tiled entry ways. Each day, they left the area clean and made sure that no debris was left inside the house or outside in the lawn or driveway. Each person who Chris had working on our bathroom was professional, courteous and thorough. Chris was onsite throughout the entire process to check in on his team and to answer any questions or concerns that we had. Chris was very hands-on for our job from design and helping us pick out tile, grout, flooring, tub, toilet and faucets. We communicated and walked Chris through anything that we thought needed additional attention (we had a very small punch list ). The entire renovation took about four weeks from demo to completion. One thing I want to point out to anyone reading this review… This company was honest and up front in my opinion. One of his guys went into our crawlspace to work on the plumbing for the bathroom and found a faucet leak under the house that was not even part of the scope of the job. They pointed this out to us. The fix was an easy fix. What this showed me was the integrity here of Chris and his team. They were not looking for this to add to the invoice but because they were getting wet from the water dripping on them while under there, they had the decency to point this out and left it up to us still to have them fix it or someone else. We could not be happier with the final results and received many comments from friends and family about how they loved how it turned out. We also used Johnson & Johnson shortly afterwards when our water heater needed to be urgently replaced. Chris called us back within minutes (literally), gave us a price and said he can be out first thing in the morning (it was early evening when we contacted him). Again a fair price and it was a no brainer for us. His guy showed up right on time and quickly replaced our gas water heater. Same professional courteous experience as we had seen on the other job. I have already recommended Johnson & Johnson to three other friends and I will not hesitate to give them first shot at our next job!

I don't recommend you waste time contacting them. They are clearly an unprofessional, fly-by--night operation. It is probably good that they blew me off from the start before we got to the next step. I am moving forward on an excellent plan from another designer I found on this site. I strongly urge you to stay away from the rank amateurs at Johnson and Johnson

We rely primarily on 3 modes of communication; phone (or text), email and the Angie's List portal. We have never been contacted my this member thru any of these modes. Occasionally people will contact us from other outlets, such as Facebook or 3rd parties who are often trying to "sell" access to the client. These are often fraught with SPAM and scams of all kinds. Angie's List has created a safe place for clients and contractors to exchange information and eventually connect. Looking back, it appears that this individual may have tried to contact us thru our Facebook page, but not under his actual name, but rather an alias of "Sentra Honda", which of course are 2 separate automobile models or manufacturers, and because it was not sent through Facebook Messenger our filter recognized it as SPAM. I hope most will agree that leaving an extremely negative review for someone that you haven't ever even spoken with is unfair and moreover, baseless.

Our bathroom desperately needed a renovation and, based on the plan and promises we received from Chris Johnson, we were excited about the project. What we didn’t expect is that once the old bathroom was torn out, the process would become a drawn out nightmare without much of a plan, workers making odd decisions on their own, and band-aids to cover up the odd decisions and mistakes made during the process. The first is the plumbing under the sink. The shut-off valves and drain pipe are so low it’s almost impossible to place anything under the cabinet. This isn’t just a simple inconvenience. The cold shut-off is being pinched downward by drywall, and the cabinet is sloppy, to say the least. The barn door guide that was glued to the floor lasted all of two months with a stopper that doesn’t stay in place. The carpet was cut too far back during the renovation and a wooden board had to be placed as a transition as a band-aid until we get new carpet (which we were not planning in the near future). This is an example of the miscommunication we saw prevalent with their team. The drywall sub took it upon himself to bullnose the new walls. At first glance, this seemed fine until the tile installer expressed frustration out loud about having to put in the tile baseboard around this bullnose. What was left was a sloppy mess of poorly cut tile and gobs of grout as they tried to round out the corners. As we looked around the bathroom, this type of poor attention to detail and patchwork to cover up mistakes became apparent. The problems continued to get worse as they tested the shower tile and discovered the tile was set wrong and wasn’t draining and drying. While Chris sent someone out to fix this, another problem was caused as the ledge going into the shower became chipped during the process. They initially tried to use aluminum edging to hide the chips. When I complained about how this looked, and that it caused the water to dam up on the ledge, they relented and tried another fix using the same material as the sink. This piece was installed without any pitch to it, resulting in water being trapped on top and not draining down. Also, somewhere during this process, they tried to patch the grout on the shower walls and used mismatched grout. Perhaps this was the grout they were using for the floor, but it is just one more of the many mistakes. While these types of issues do happen, there were other things that I feel needed to be shared as others consider hiring Johnson & Johnson. I permitted the drywall to be stored in my garage. What I didn’t know, until it was too late, was that they were going to use my garage as their shop. This caused drywall dust to coat every surface of my garage, including an expensive road bike. The bike was taken into a reputable shop and had to be professional taken apart and cleaned. This issue cost over $200 to fix but could have caused even more damage if left unaddressed. When I shared this with Chris, he just argued about it and placed blame on us for permitting them to use the garage to cut drywall (which we did not). Several times, as I expressed frustration throughout the renovation, Chris responded with such callous statements as, “First world problem just like any of my others, no ones got cancer!” These kind of statements were uttered multiple times as we felt bullied to accept the poor nature of the work. I still can’t believe anyone would treat a customer that way and say things like that. I wish the story ended here, but several months after Chris and his team moved on to other projects, we noticed the brand new grout was cracking on the bathroom floor. I called Chris, and his response was to send someone over to spot treat the issue. As I looked closer, I realized the problem was widespread. The gentleman Chris sent over confirmed that the whole tile job, including the grout, was poorly done. Chris proposed trying a plan to grout over trouble areas and dye the grout. While I had reservations about this plan, we permitted them to attempt to fix this as we wanted to allow Chris the opportunity to fix his mistakes. My reservations were confirmed as the grout began to crack and break up in chunks less than a week after the repair. This repair job, like many of the band-aids Chris used, never felt like an approach that was appropriate as we paid tens of thousands of dollars to have a job done correctly. We gave Chris the benefit of the doubt in trying to fix it, but he wouldn’t agree to do the job right. Upon conversations with professionals, the correct approach was to remove the grout entirely, but the floor appears to have never been installed correctly. I addressed this with Chris, and he was incredibly defensive and rude. The grout was “repaired” but is once again cracking. We paid thousands of dollars based on the plans, promise, and reputation of Chris Johnson. We didn’t pay for bandaids, coverups, and mistakes that were never corrected, but that’s precisely what we got by hiring Johnson and Johnson. Don’t waste your time and money with them.

The homeowners are fantastic people and the way in which the project and the relationship has turned out is very defeating. The project was extremely transformative and the bathroom is very beautiful. The reviewer has never contacted me about any of her concerns after completion nor have I ever had the opportunity to speak with her directly, however the husband has contacted me on multiple occasions, always with very long, off-point and demeaning text messages. The tile floor outside of the shower is the issue and despite having gone to overwhelming length to first properly fortify the existing sub-floor and then prep and tile the floor according to industry accepted "best practices", hairline cracks developed where the grout engages the large-format floor tile. No grout was found to be loose or "spalling". There are many reasons why this can happen, but having first hand knowledge of how it was installed and of the construction of the home (70's pre-fabricated production home) there were only 2 likely causes; a pour mix if grout/defective grout or structural movement of the home affecting the second-story bathroom. It was unlikely that it was an issue with the grout, however we agreed to grind out the grout over the entire bathroom floor to a certain depth and re-grout the entire bathroom floor at no expense to the homeowner. Several months later I heard again from the husband simply to tell me that the grout was cracking again and that I was a fraud. I believe that because of the location of the bathroom and the construction of the home, the structure of the home in the vicinity of the bathroom is experiencing movement, causing just enough movement to uncouple the bond between grout and tile to a very slight degree. I'm beyond confident that if the entire tile floor was to be removed and re-installed the phenomenon would reemerge once again. This condition does not pose an aesthetic, safety or performance issue in the least but perfection along with client satisfaction, is always our target.

Chris is an excellent communicator. This was a small job compared to what he usually takes on, yet he treated us so well. We are really fortunate to have found him on Angie's List. Larry, our installer, was top notch. We appreciated his expert skills and attention to detail. Outstanding work ethic from these folks, as well as genuinely nice people. A great experience.

We had a bathroom in the basement that we did not have completed when we built our house in 2015. The room had been created, but inside the bathroom were only studs and roughed in electrical and plumbing. Chris came to the house and we reviewed with him the work we wanted completed. To complete the bathroom, it required building a tile shower with shower doors, installing dry wall, tile floor, toilet, vanity with lights. We are very pleased with the work that Chris and his crew completed for us. We gave Chris an idea as to what we wanted the tile to look like for the shower walls and the bathroom floor and the general colors we wanted to stay with. Chris then selected shower tiles, floor tiles and vanity top that went together. Chris has very good design skills. He provided us with pictures of samples that he thought matched and gave us some options to choose from. Throughout the project Chris was very good in communicating with us as to what was scheduled to be done. Chris did a great job in working with us to complete this project.

Mr. [Member Name Removed], thank you for taking the time to write this review for us. We are very grateful for the opportunity to work with you. Your patience with waiting to complete this project, meant (to us) that you knew what you wanted and wanted it done right. We are happy we were able to play a role in that process and the finished product is something you are very pleased with. Thanks again! Eusi.
We are very pleased with the work that Chris and his team completed for us. During the initial visit, it was clear that Chris had a clear vision of what needed to be accomplished in order to meet our stated goals for the project. Throughout the project he was able to provide creative options and solutions that allowed us to end up with a showcase kitchen and a lovely three season room within our stated budget. During the project Chris and his team completely gutted the kitchen and removed overhead bulkheads which allowed for the addition of taller cabinets all around and floor to ceiling cabinets with slide out drawers to replace our outdated pantry with bi-fold doors. We chose quartz for the counter tops and kitchen island and Chris steered us to some dove gray shaker style cabinets with soft close cabinet doors and shelves room with that look great and operate smoothly. He reframed the screened porch, moved the doorway for better access and removed the tongue in groove flat ceiling to give us a vaulted ceiling effect. He finished off the three season room with porcelain tile and six foot tall windows to give us a nice view into our backyard and also provided a dedicated 20 amp outlet to handle the ceramic heater we chose for warming the room on cool days. Chris provided samples of stone for our selection to use on the exterior bottom 24 inches of the three season room which gave us a finished blended look with our outdoor firepit. Major remodeling projects can be stressful but Chris did a great job in helping us navigate through the entire process.

[Member Name Removed], we are grateful for the opportunity to work for you and [Member Name Removed]. And, you are absolutely correct, major remodeling projects can be super stressful for the homeowners. Thats why we were so appreciative of your understanding and flexibility during the project. You guys were great to work with and talk to (whenever time permitted) during my time on the job site. Thanks again for trusting us to bring these thoughts and ideas to reality. Eusi
Our bathroom is now the showcase of our home. Mr. Johnson only employed expertly qualified craftman. Chris was proactive on every phase of the project. Walls were changed, a zero shower was crafted, new ceramic tile with radiant floor heated was installed. A toilet closet with safety bars was designed. Only the finest material was used. The cabinetry and mirrors are striking. He has a creative ability to think outside the box. In addition to the skilled workmanship, Chris is a family man of strong Christian morals and integrity. We left for three weeks with complete confidence that our home and possessions were in competent hands. John & Johnson exceeded by ultimate expectations.

This is the second time we have used this company in a week. They did a great job. I had many people come out to give me a quote and they said they would call me with estimate and I would never hear back from them. Not this company. I plan on using them to finish our basement as well as to remodel two of our bathrooms. Would recommend them!!
