Usually ask for 1/2 down to start and the balance upon completion, unless we're building a house for you or a large remodeling job, then there would be drawls. A plastic vapor barrier should completely cover your basement to prevent water from penetrating through the walls. However, you can keep your home cooler in summer and warmer with "insulated clapboard siding," which is a type of vinyl clapboard siding with a built-in foam insulation. Consult a local siding contractor to determine whether insulated siding is right for your home.
