When shown the original design for yard last fall, I told Dean that the design for the backyard was not what I really wanted. I wanted a much simpler plan, that my main concern was to stop the weeds and growth coming under my fence into my yard. I wanted something built along the fence to block it . I also told him that on one side of my yard it slopes down to the fence and that when I watered there, the water would go into my neighbors yard, instead of watering my plants. I told him I wanted to make my life easier, that it was getting too hard for me to take care of the yard. Also told him no bushes or trees. The way the power lines connect to the house and with telephone lines down by the parkway fence; trees are in the way. I had 3 trees in the yard, when I bought the house. One by one I had to remove them or risk knocking down the power lines. Also told him that I don't like peonies and I am allergic to roses. I was told not to worry, all that would be discussed at the beginning of the project the following spring. When they came out to do the patio, I tried to talk to Dean regarding the yard. He brushed me off and told me that we would discuss it when work was started on the yard. Okay. I reminded him that I did not want my grassy area to be as small as shown on last spring's design and no trees, no bushes. Work was started on the patio, I was not home a lot that week, due to doctor visits for me and my mother. Much to my surprise, my yard was all dug up. All the plants that I wanted to keep were gone. The grass was carved up, leaving a much smaller grass area. I was not happy about it and told him so. We negotiated, and I agreed to a smaller area then I had wanted, but larger then He had planned. I was told the remaining carved out area would be replaced with grass. After the patio was done, I was told that the yard work would be done May 6th & 7th. I had my godchild's wedding on May 11, and still had some shopping to do to be ready for it. I told him that would be okay, but the rest of the week I had appointments so I had to go shopping Wednesday. They did not show up on the 6th or 7th. I went shopping on the 8th, and return home late in the afternoon to find his men loading trees, bushes, and plants into my backyard. I was appalled, I told his men to stop, that I did not want any of the stuff brought in. Dean came out, and brought some other stuff with him, but seemed surprise that I did not want any of the original stuff . I told him I wanted a much simpler yard. That I had wanted to keep the hostas , blue hydrangeas, and the deep purple irises that his men had dug up. Told him I wanted lavender and/ or sage planted along the fence by the parkway. Also that I wanted some kind of blue ground cover if possible in the focal point of my yard. I had bought a sleeping stone dragon and I wanted it to look like it was sleeping in a field of flowers. Instead I got a dragon sleeping on a flat stone which is placed on rocks. I was told lavender and sage would bring bees, and if I'm allergic that could be a problem.. He told me he could bring out a green hydrangea. and just kept talking and placing plants in different parts of the yard. I was never told to go to his center and walk around and pick out the plants I wanted. I agreed to 2 trees ; a dwarf Japanese maple and some other one. I am told that neither will get big . The dwarf Japanese maple is adorable and if it doesn't get much taller, it will be okay. However the other tree , I am very concerned will grow and need to be trimmed. An expense I do not want or need. At final walk around, Dean did admit that maybe in 10 years or so it might need to be trimmed to avoid the wires. I told him, it better not or I'm coming to get him. I have 5 bushes along one fence, that I do not remember agreeing to before they were planted. I don't believe we ever got that far when changing what was to be planted. They are suppose to be Burning Bushes and per Dean will not get big. I just have to trim them right after the 4th of July and again in the fall. The yard looks nice and clean. A lot of rock with bushes and a few small plants . I have bought plants before for similar prices, but I had a grown plant, not a seedling. I have no idea what these plants will look like when they grow up. I guess I'll just have to wait and see if there is any color there. Most of all I don't believe the problems I wanted fixed were fixed. I already see growth along the boulder trim at the fence. To prevent growth, a heavy plastic ground coverwas placed and covered with stones. Along the fence, boulders were placed varying in size from the size of a baseball to the size of a grapefruit. I did tell Dean I tried something very similar, and it did not work. I had wanted a brick or stone wall placed along the fence to stop the growth, and a very simple yard with plants that don't require a lot of care. What I got is an HGTV garden that has to be water for 2 hours everyday. Since Dean had hose planted in the ground on each side of the yard, that means 2 hours on each side. Oh and the grass that was dug up; he seeded that and thanks to all the rain it has filled in fairly good. Good thing, cause with 4 hours watering the bushes, I don't feel like watering the grass. Also when work was first started, I asked him to replace 2 bushes, and remove one so I could put in a birdbath. The ones I wanted replace; turned out well. However, instead of removing the bush on the west corner, he removed the bush on the east corner. This meant he had to replace the bush removed in error and remove the west side bush. He said that the bush dug up in error was rotted anyway, but it was only a few years old and looked healthy to me. He replaced with a bush that is not as pretty and looks like it could get large. The one that I wanted removed was getting too big for the front yard. This despite the fact that I trimmed 2 to 3 times a summer. I guess what really got me so angry is now when I look at the yard, all I see is work. If he had done what I wanted, all I would have had to do was place a sprinkler in the backyard to water my grass and plants. I wanted nothing fancy, just to fill in spots where I use to plants annuals. Annuals that brought in bees, which despite being a very allergic person, I never had problems . Also having trouble getting a final bill to pay what I owe. I get emails and then I get a bill in the mail, neither agree on the total amount. I have ask for a bill that shows just the cost of the patio, and the cost of what was done to my backyard with the payments I have paid so that I have a clear picture of what is owed. The first bill had credits for all the plants I refused plus what was planted. Very confusing. Then the next one had an invoice listed that the email showed one price, and the mailed bill showed another. I wonder if the growth along the fence gets as bad as it usually does, who will I get to fix it . It was a little bit of phone tag there for awhile but Andy always kept in touch and came out for an estimate. I appreciated his patience as I walked him through the property with my checklist. He was very knowledgeable and made suggestions about how far to trim some of the growth. He noted that it was going to get hot and some of the work could be postponed since the plants might suffer. He gave me an estimate for the price and a possible scheduling date. My schedule got a bit hectic after that but Andy stayed in touch. I'm grateful he did because I didn't want another summer going by with the landscaping left as is. We scheduled the work for June 19th. Andy and his two assistants showed up on time with two trucks and a chipper. He called ahead before they arrived. Andy went over the details of the work that needed to be done that day. They started the work promptly at the front of the house and made their way around the house to the back yard. It took about six hours but by the time they left, the trees and shrubs were trimmed and every scrap branch, twig, leaf was removed and taken away. They finished the cleanup with leaf blowers. Andy and I walked through the property again so I could make sure everything was done correctly. The final price was the same as the estimate price. Friends and relatives have noted how nice the yard looks. I'm very pleased with the results and how smoothly the job went."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/in/griffith/andy%27s-tree-service-reviews-315650.htm"},"position":10}]}
Plant Watering reviews from real Angi homeowners in Hammond, IN
It was amazing the difference two days made. The first day Garrett and Stephen came, covered my plants and completely cleaned and cleared my deck of all the mold and old stain and paint. The following day they returned and sanded and smoothed the wood like a baby's butt before they stained...
They did an excellent job of improving the appearance of the house and protected the plants. I am very happy with their work and would recommend them without reservation.
My family and I had been talking about getting new windows for years, We had planned on getting the whole house done. I contacted Premier after speaking with them on Facebook, and with the sales manager and being made to feel comfortable, especially with no pushing and letting me get another...

"They did a poor job. Within 3 months, plants started growing in between the asphalt. The company refuses to come fix it and is adamant it is done correctly against seal coating companies saying that it is poorly done. I was informed to seal coat the aspahlt within 3 months/in fall, and the driveway didnt last that long. He refuses to give me the terms and conditions to the "warranty" on the driveway despite several times asking. He only picks up responses to getting paid and accepting work. Also do not view the "estimate", it is a trick to get you to accept their work. Communication is difficult with this company unless its about giving them money. Would not recommend."

"It didn't. I had a need to build a retaining wall in my front garden. Gallardo's was one of the vendors recommended by Angi. I got an immediate response which was good, requesting more details and, if possible photos of the requested work. I responded, providing details and photos ask requested. I never heard back. I sent a follow up again requesting a quote. I got nothing. Ghosting potential customers is not a good business practice. I do have some future projects in mind but Gallardo's won't even be considered. No way to run a business. You can bet I will chat with friends and family and advise them not to consider Gallardo's even if recommended by Angi."

FNJ Landscaping Services has long been leading valued clients to understand the chance of having that dream design for their outdoor spaces for many years.
"The quality of the work was poor, the sod was laid and not rolled out which is preventing the sod from catching and causing the lawn to look uneven, the grass seed/ dirt was spread sporadically over the front lawn without focusing on the bare spots which was the ultimate goal of the seeding. (for treatment/solution to holes in the lawn to promote grass growth in those areas.) Also there was very little grass seeds or dirt spread to back lawn. I brought this to Kevin's attention and he said he would take care of it and that he ran out of dirt, also his response to my calls or e-mails was not timely or not at all. I called and text him on several occasions requesting that he comes to complete the job and he never showed up to complete the job as promised. I also feel the additional cost he charged ($1500) to lay 4 to 5 rolls of sod for 20 ft. x 24 ft. area (480 sq. ft.) , was over priced and he took advantage of me and I am a victim of price gouging. His initial quote he gave me was 3400 (for the seeding, retainer wall removal, aeration, power raking, cutting the grass, plant 1 bush) but I just noticed he has put 3500 on the contract so even in that instance I paid him $100 more than what was agreed upon. The contract that he wanted me to sign was very extensive and "construction focused" and did not address everything we had discussed for this project. It basically was an agreement to ensure payment and cover himself if I did not pay. When I noticed the contract did not list line by line description of the scope of the work I brought that to his attention and asked him to include what the job would intel ( work order) listing what we had talked about. He told me he would bring it when he came to do the job. I didn't receive anything, but he had already came to to start the job. By the time he finally came to start the job I had received a warning from the village due to my grass had grown more then 5 inches waiting for him to come and take care of cutting the grass when he was to start the project. The overall communication and follow up with this company is not good and they do not provide detailed scope of work orders even when requested."

"I wanted to give them a great review, the owner is extremely friendly and patient and had fair prices. They were going to redo my paved patio and install front landscaping. I was away for work when they installed landscaping, I was told about the pavers for edging they were going to use. But when I came home, I saw that the just used leftover bricks from the patio. They put one with a huge rust stain right in front that looked terrible and one brick was cracked on the side part of edging. I Ended up Removing the edging all together and redid it myself with different edging. ( I was also supposed to have bright fuchsia-colored lilies and I had dark red.) Also, the entire outer row of bricks on my patio came loose. The owner called back and sent someone to fix it without any issue. It is ok now but they used yellowish sand when they came back to fix it and the other sand is gray. It is noticeably different, when I removed the patio rug there is a huge line of the hardened sand on the concrete that I cannot seem to get all of it out just yet. The owner also told me he would get me a specific ground cover for a portion of the landscape, and he never did. I was very excited when I hired them and had high hopes that my outside would finally look like it should. While it looks better than it originally did, I feel like they tried to cut some corners on this project that ended up costing me more afterward. I just wish they would have put a little more care into it and really made it a quality work."

FAQs for plant watering projects in Hammond, IN
Landscapers typically charge $25 to $50 per person per hour, which equals around $50 to $100 per hour for a two-person crew. These rates can vary depending on your location, the size of staff needed for the job, and overall job type. For example, a larger crew will be needed for structural additions and hardscaping versus planting flowers.
When it comes to landscapers, licensing laws vary. Landscaping architects are required to be licensed in all 50 states, whereas traditional landscaping contractors are not typically required to hold a certification. You’ll likely be working with a landscaping contractor for most residential projects. If you are redesigning your whole yard or adding in hardscape features, you will work with a landscaping architect at some point during the project. Be sure to check our state licensing tool to review the local landscaper guidelines.
As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:
The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check
Required to have applicable state and local licenses
Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review
Paying to advertise their services
Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi
Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.
Lawn irrigation is the process of getting water to your lawn, grass and all, for it to grow. There are five main types of lawn irrigation methods:
Manual irrigation puts you in charge of the flow of water. Using a sprinkler head on your hose is best to evenly distribute the water across your entire lawn. This doesn’t take much time but requires you to be physically outside holding the hose.
Above-ground sprinklers attach to your hose and rotate or oscillate around your lawn. Since these are above-ground, they’ll need to be moved when it’s time to mow, and depending on the size of your property, you might need to move it around your yard for full coverage.
In-ground sprinklers are flush with the ground when not in use but pop up above the ground level when it's time to water the lawn. Piping for these sprinklers is all found underground, and there are different types of sprinkler heads for different uses and lawn sizes.
Drip irrigation involves drip lines that are more efficient than sprinklers for more extensive lawns. This involves a lot of digging since they are installed underground, but it makes it easy for you to mow.
Rainwater collection and irrigation uses nature’s precipitation to water your lawn. This option might not be available in every area since semi-reliable rainfall is needed, though the barrels for this system can range from 15 gallons to 10,000 gallons or more.
The cost of a lawn sprinkler system is $2,550 for the average homeowner. However, this price can range from $350 to $5,000 or more, depending on the type of sprinkler system you install, the size of your yard, and the type of sprinkler heads you choose. For example, rotating or oscillating sprinkler heads are more expensive than stationary ones, making the cost for one sprinkler head $2.50 to $30 each. Likewise, a yard that is 1/4 of an acre in size averages a total average price of $2,460; however, a one-acre yard averages a cost of $9,840.
Landscaping costs around $3,500 but varies widely from $200 to $14,000. Factors that play a part in your final landscaping price tag include:
Location
Yard size
Project size
Materials
Land preparation
Type of landscaping
Considering so many factors, it’s not surprising that the overall costs can differ. A typical landscaping project is flower bed installation, which averages between $800 and $3,000. However, landscape lighting installation is a higher-end project, with a price tag of $2,000 to $6,000.
