"We are very happy. We had called because the garbage disposal was no  longer working. Since we also hated the sink that the house came with, we decided to have them replace the sink and faucet along with the garbage disposal. When our plumber, Rob, showed up he tested the reset button on the disposal (what... there is a reset button?!? shows what we know) and informed us that the disposal was working great. He could have charged us for an install we didn't need and instead he told us that we should keep the disposal that is working great. We still wanted the new sink installed, so he was more than happy to do this for us. He was nice and answered all our questions. We are so very happy with Flow-Rite and the service that we received from Robert. He also took photographs of our bathroom sink in order to get a quote for us, since we told him that we are wanting to replace that this summer along with the toilet. Again, we couldn't be happier and would definitely recommend this company.

"I had posted a negative review for this company yesterday. There was a miscommunication. This company did come and check the problem. Problem was I did not know that they came and thouht I was being abandoned. Apparently I caused the problem not them. They are coming back to resolve the problem. I was wrong."

"Dishwasher and ceiling fan service was wonderful. Garbage disposal is on its way, the shower fixture was a little messy and have to return 3 times to fix, pray its the last time. But not Choice Warranty's fault. Alittle pricey but allows you to pay them out."

Install Garbage Disposal questions, answered by experts

On average, it takes one to four hours for a professional to install a garbage disposal. This includes removing the old unit, taking necessary measurements for positioning, removing and fitting new pipes, and installing the brand-new disposal system. If there are unforeseen issues, such as accessibility concerns, the process takes longer.

It’s one thing that helps, alongside vinegar and baking soda. Ice acts as an exfoliant, helping to lift off any bits of food stuck on the disposal blades.

No, you do not need a garbage disposal to have a dishwasher. A dishwasher will work without one, and while it's rare to see a home with a dishwasher that doesn't have a disposal, it is possible. The two appliances pair well and are often installed together because a disposal simplifies meal cleanup.

However, your dishwasher should not be used as a replacement for a garbage disposal. Subjecting it to continuous food leftovers can lead to major clogs. If you choose not to install a garbage disposal, you should thoroughly rinse your plates or scrape excess food into the trash or a compost pile before loading them into the dishwasher to prevent plumbing issues.

These appliances do unscrew, but you need to disconnect everything properly when you replace your garbage disposal. Make sure you shut the power off to the area first and check that it’s off with a voltage detector. Disconnect the main drain line and P-trap, and then disconnect the dishwasher drain line if you have one connected. You can then unscrew your garbage disposal using a disposal wrench. Just make sure you disconnect the electrical lines before removing your appliance.

These appliances certainly increase the number of things allowed down the drain, but they’re not foolproof. There are several items you shouldn’t put in your garbage disposal, according to manufacturers and technicians. Don’t put coffee grounds down the drain. The same goes for eggshells, potato peels, hard foods, onion skins, and any dry, expandable food. Most importantly, never put grease or oils down the drain.
