"This is our third year working with Minnick landscaping for our spring cleanup, and we couldn’t be happier. They cut and shaped the beds, beautifully, applied mulch, evenly, and took on big projects like removing old, overgrown shrubbery. They also helped us choose the right replacements and plant them so everything looks balanced and healthy. Every year, our yard looks completely renewed thanks to their hard work. We truly appreciate their reliability, quality, and how respectful they are of the property. Excellent service every year. We also feel that they are very competitive with pricing and look forward to having them come back next year. We are already planning our next project with them."

"Overall great job. I have a very swampy back yard and I had them install a French drain around the perimeter of my back yard, add a layer of top soil to regrade the yard, and drain the downspouts underground. Iâ d recommend making sure to do the â call before you digâ to have underground schematics marked. Had a minor issue where my internet line got cut because it was pushed up into more shallow ground by some tree roots. But that was quickly repaired and they worked around it. But for a pretty large project, it was completed promptly and to completion with what we agreed on, with updates along the way. I will use them for any future projects I need to hire out for."

Excavating questions, answered by experts

It can take several weeks for the ground to settle after removing a tree, and the soil under larger, more mature trees can take months. The deeper the tree has been ground under the soil, the longer it will take to settle. However, this extra depth can help you plant new landscaping sooner because you’ll have more space for fresh soil.

Yes, most services include site leveling and foundation work. Confirm with your contractor for specifics.

There are many ways to cut through roots when digging, especially if your trencher doesn’t seem to be removing the roots. First, use a shovel to expose the roots. Then, use gardening shears to clear out smaller roots or a reciprocating saw to remove larger plant roots. If you plan on keeping the plant, avoid cutting any roots over 2 inches thick.

Drilled wells have a pipe sticking up that’s covered in a plastic or metal casing. On the other hand, a dug well will look like a big hole in the ground and is more similar to what you’d see in a fantasy or Western movie. If you want to be sure, contact the city for documentation on your property’s construction and excavation history.

The easier way to find buried sprinkler lines is to use the plan from the professionals who installed the system. If you don’t have professional plans, listen for running water on your lawn when you turn on the system. You may also spot wet areas, giving you an idea of where the heads are. Once you find the sprinkler heads, you’ll likely be able to connect the dots between them, revealing the system below.
