"He took an old deck and managed to make it look so much better. Great price considering it included deck cleaning, removing the furniture, and the staining. Would absolutely hire again!"

"Marcos worked around our schedule which involved extra clean up. We then added extra painting, which he accomplished on time and on budget. He came back twice to do touch up and cleaning. We were very happy with his work."

"He was excellent! I am very picky with painting jobs and I like a nice, clean, and very straight line. He was not only very good at that, but he took the time to prep the walls properly which made the job literally flawless. I was very pleased with the quality of his work and would use him again.

"Chris Norton is both an excellent person AND painter. Over the past year, he's painted most of the rooms of our 4,000 square foot home. His work is second to none! I've found I don't have to purchase as much paint when I work with Chris, he's so good at his job that he knows how to apply paint evenly - ensuring maximum coverage in a clean exact way. He also keeps his workspace tidy - no messes during or after the job! (He paints so much, that you'll enjoy a stellar discount at Sherwin Williams too!)

As for trustworthiness - he has the code to the house and we never worry about him being in the house alone or locking up when he leaves.

If you are looking for a top notch painter with integrity, I wholeheartedly recommend Chris Norton."

"We bought the move-out cleaning special.  They arrived promptly and got to work.  The house looked great. However, I noticed a few things and I am not sure if I am being too picky about a move-out cleaning (I had never had one done before; are they supposed to leave the house without a speck or smudge? or just an overall wipe down?).  I noticed all the appliances had a visible residue on them, and so did the hardwood floors and the countertops.  We had to end up cleaning them over again.  Also, many of the baseboards were still dusty and dirty, and we had to clean them ourselves too. And I found a spot on the ceramic tile that needed a little extra scrubbing to get the spot off.
But I am wondering if a move-out clean is just to get the bulk of it out, and they did that very well.  We had two cats and there was hair all over the place and that seemed to have been taken care of.

Deck Cleaning questions, answered by experts

To flatten a cupped deck board, start by ensuring it’s dry. Then, try flipping the board over so the cupped side faces down and reattach it. If that’s not possible, you can use screws to pull it tighter to the joists or plane the edges slightly to reduce the cup. It’s best to replace severely cupped boards.

The proper height for a stair riser or deck step is between four and seven inches, with seven inches often considered the most comfortable. Building your stairs to this height ensures a strain-free step position and minimizes the risk of trip and fall injuries. For optimal safety and comfort, especially on deck stairs, a rise of around seven inches should be paired with a tread depth (or run) of at least 10 to 12 inches. While it is possible to design stairs with risers up to 12 inches, this height can be challenging for children, pets, or individuals with mobility issues. Always check with your local building codes, as they may mandate specific dimensions that differ from these general recommendations.

It is recommended to clean your deck once or twice a year to prevent the accumulation of dirt, debris, mold, and mildew. The ideal times for cleaning are in the spring and fall. A spring cleaning removes grime that has built up over the winter, preparing your deck for summer use. A fall cleaning washes away messes from summer activities, preventing them from setting into the wood over the winter. The exact frequency can depend on factors such as how often the deck is used, its exposure to pollen, and whether salt was used on it during the winter. Regular cleaning helps protect the wood and its finish from damage.

No, your deck will not rot under artificial grass as long as it is installed properly. When installed correctly, the artificial grass features a drainage system that prevents rotting. Simply laying artificial grass on top of the decking without proper installation will not lead to an effective drainage system that prevents rotting.

The “best” material is in the eye of the beholder, as each common decking material boasts its pros and cons. Poured concrete is the best budget-friendly option, but composite wood brings high-grade aesthetics without breaking the bank. Wood is the most traditional material, but it requires more maintenance than some other materials. In other words, do your research before settling on a deck material to find the one that’s best for your pool.
