Small jobs welcome

I’m a jack of all trades. I was raised to work hard and I have experience in multiple areas. I do excavation for my full time job so I am just looking for a little extra work on the side. I have a truck and trailer so my services can expand beyond what is listed. Thank you for the opportunity!

"I had an absolutely perfect experience with Sheila and Dru. They are the best company that I have ever hired to do work at my home. They were personable, friendly, honest, easy to work with, and did excellent work. I will hire them again and again to do work at my home. I cannot recommend them more highly! If you need some work done, hire Rabbit Jackâ s. You wonâ t be disappointed."

"Upon uncovering a leak during a rain, I emailed Maximus Contracting through Angie's List. They were my 3rd email sent but the previous 2 had other things going on and couldn't accommodate the 1-2 day appointment I needed to prevent further leak damage. Eric (Owner) was very responsive and responded to my email quickly. Upon return call, he said he could have someone there that day. Leo arrived and immediately assessed the situation and explained the required repairs to me. Upon his call to Eric and then Eric's call to me to discuss the repair cost, I was very satisfied with the agreed-to price. Eric even had Leo caulk the vent above the garage with no increase in cost. Leo left to get materials and returned in about 20 minutes. The actual repairs took him about 1.5 hours and after cleaning up, he was there for about 3 hours. The weather looked like rain and it did rain that evening and the next day, so I am grateful to Eric for answering my email and acting promptly. I will go back to Maximus General Contracting for any future home repairs.

"Very happy and satisfied with the entire experience. Andrew went above and beyond to fix our problems. That was even after I tried to discourage him from coming out at all. Unfortunately the so called matches Angie gave were not matches at all. Andrew called me and I tried to blow him off he still came out and fixed our problem. We will use him in the future."

"Had a paver patio put in by Preston and his crew. Very stand up guy and completed the job on time and within the budget with very clean work. Always stayed in communication with me through the process and I learned alot. Definitely a refreshing change from some contractors I've hired."

Deck Cleaning questions, answered by experts

PVC decking might be long-lasting, but this synthetic material lacks the natural aesthetic or sustainability of wood decking. If you want to match your decking to your new garden furniture or just freshen up the faded surface, it’s not usually possible to paint PVC decking. When comparing PVC to composite decking, PVC is pricier and more prone to warping in hot regions.

You can nail or screw composite decking, but 3-inch decking screws are the better fastener choice. Unlike nails, decking screws won’t back out of the composite material over time. There’s also little danger of splitting composite material when driving screws, so you don’t need to pre-drill holes unless otherwise recommended by your decking manufacturer.

Pressure-treated wood contains preservatives that give the material internal protection from rot and pests. Untreated lumber won’t last more than a few years unless you choose a more expensive wood, like cedar, that naturally stands up well to moisture. Composite decking can outlast wood but is more expensive and doesn’t look as natural. Keep in mind that you’ll need to seal any exterior wood product to protect it from the elements and other forms of external damage.

You typically don’t need a railing and handrails on a deck that’s less than 30 inches from the ground. However, consider adding them regardless. Railings provide additional safety for you and your guests who use your deck—plus, railings give the deck a more finished look than it would have without them.

The proper and most comfortable height for a deck stair riser, also called a step, is between four and seven inches. A height of seven inches is often considered ideal for a strain-free step that minimizes the risk of trips and falls. While it is possible to have risers up to 12 inches, this height can be challenging for children, pets, or individuals with mobility issues. For optimal safety and comfort, pair a seven-inch riser with a tread depth (or run) of at least 10 to 12 inches. Always check your local building codes, as they may have specific requirements that differ from these general recommendations.
