"He took an old deck and managed to make it look so much better. Great price considering it included deck cleaning, removing the furniture, and the staining. Would absolutely hire again!"

Customers say: Quality work

"Prices are reasonable, didn't add extras, materials cost more than estimate but he didn't charge extra. Showed up when he said. It was a cold December morning. Got to work straight away. Very organised and clean. Worked all day. Cleaned up as though he wasn't there. Did a job quoted as 2 day in one day. Hubby is very detal orientated and the job passed his exacting standards. Will hire again. A good man of his word. Very good communication."

Small jobs welcome

"Keith did an outstanding job on our 21 year old deck. He replaced quite a few boards, did a power wash and sealed the deck in approximately 4 days. I think it might have been quicker if we could have avoided the rain. I was very happy with all the work and the look of the deck when finished. I would definitely contact Keith with another project and would highly recommend him."

Deck Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Building a deck without a permit could lead to fines for both the homeowner and the contractor. The exact penalties will depend on your state and municipal building laws. You might also be required to remove the deck and apply for a permit before you can build another. While it might be tempting to skip the permit to save a few bucks, it’ll cost you much more if you’re caught.

There are ways to clean your deck to help maintain a clean appearance. You can easily remove surface-level dirt and grime by wetting your deck with a hose and doing a quick scrub with store-bought deck cleaner monthly.

However, investing in professional deck cleaning services near you at least twice a year is worth it. This service saves you time and ensures that your deck will avoid accidentally becoming scratched by blasting the pressure washer at the wrong angle.

Your deck may pop, and your neighbor’s deck may not for a number of reasons. Whether or not a deck pops will depend on how it was made, the conditions it’s exposed to, and the materials. Improper spacing is a common reason for increased pressure between deck boards. Moisture penetration is another.

In many areas, a floating deck that isn’t connected to your home and stays under 200 square feet and below 30 inches in height may not need a permit. These freestanding structures are often considered low-risk, which can simplify the building process. However, building codes vary greatly based on location. Before investing in any home improvement project, check with your local permitting office for deck-building guidelines.

Typically, most residential wooden decks are designed to support approximately 40 pounds per square foot, including the deck’s weight and any items placed on it. While this is fine for typical use, it is usually not enough to hold the weight of a hot tub filled with water and people. To safely support a hot tub, your wood deck will likely require reinforcement. Therefore, it’s best to have a contractor or a structural engineer assess it before hot tub installation.
