"Jeff and his entire team (Logan, Troy, Chris, Craig, & Darrel) did a great job power washing the exterior of the house, replacing rotten wood and painting our deck and siding. They were very friendly, easy to work with, and delivered a high quality finished result. we are very pleased with their service and would recommend them to others."

"We had some plumbing done and decided to paint the wall ourselves after the job was completed. We botched it, lol. Stellar Painting came in and fixed our mistakes and repainted the wall for us. It was a small job, but they treated us like it was the most important job of their career. They are super friendly, fast, efficient, and NEAT. I will definitely call them again when we need painting done. It's just easier to have it done right the first time!"

"Scott painted 2 bathrooms for me. He showed up on time, did an excellent job at a very reasonable price, was a pleasure to deal with, and cleaned up when he was finished. I recommend him highly. You won’t be disappointed."

"Crew was very prompt and diligent in completing their paint trim work and basement stairs touchup. They laid drop cloths on all flooring and household items, to prevent any paint drippings. Great job, Barta!"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

There’s no single paint that’s the most waterproof. Instead, there are several types of waterproof and water-resistant paints that suit different purposes. Epoxy paint, for instance, is commonly used to provide a waterproof coating to floors and decks. Masonry paint is an excellent choice for exterior walls. Meanwhile, there are waterproof acrylic paints that can be used for interior and exterior walls. It’s more about choosing the best type for what you’re painting instead of the most waterproof paint overall.

Opt for an interior wood stain that is rated for your type of wood. Consider your personal style preferences as well as the overall use of the room when choosing a color. Remember, the color you see at the store may look different on your actual floors once applied. This is why if you have the chance, it’s helpful to test a few options on a scrap piece of wood in the room first. Once you narrow it down, you can test a small patch on an inconspicuous area in the room to see it on the actual floors.

Yes, pressure-treated wood can occasionally turn green due to certain preservatives, such as copper-based chemicals, used during the treatment process. These chemicals react with the wood, creating a greenish tint. The good news? It's temporary, and the color will fade over time. Staining or painting can also help hide any unwanted hues.

Yes, staining or sealing a cedar deck or fence is highly recommended to extend its lifespan, typically by five to 10 years. While cedar is naturally resistant to mold and mildew, it can still fall victim to moisture, sun exposure, and rot over time. Applying a treatment creates a protective shield that helps prevent splintering, fading, and decay, preserving the wood's strength and appearance. A combination stain and sealer often provides the best protection, as it soaks into the wood grain rather than just sitting on top. This offers superior defense against UV damage and rot and lasts longer than a sealer alone. To maintain the wood's natural look, consider using a near-translucent stain. You should plan to reapply the stain or sealer every two to three years.

In most cases, sanding an old deck before staining it is necessary to achieve a decent finish. If your old deck has a relatively new stain finish on it and you're only doing touch-ups, you can generally skip the sanding part. However, if your goal is to make the deck look and function better, sanding first is a must.
