"I’ve had Liedel’s services at 2 properties. They’ve done power washing, deck repair and exterior painting. Their work has always been exceptional. They have integrity, are professional, dependable and reasonably priced. They are all-around excellent!"

"Had a wall that needed to be patched and repainted. I originally hired a non-professional painter who made the problem worse. I found Barta's Affordable Painting through Home Advisors. Mike, contacted me immediately and showed up at the scheduled time. He knew immediately how to correct the problem. He sent over one of his very experienced painters, Pam, and within 1-1/2 hours the room was repaired and beautifully painted. I will use no other painters except Barta's for my future painting needs."

"Jeff and his crew did a great job. Everyone was very nice and professional. We have a large, three story house, but Jeff and his team had the equipment and expertise to tackle the job. The house, the driveway, the sidewalks, and the small patio all look like new. We would definitely hire them again. In fact, we're going to in the near future."

"Overall, they did a good job and were here when promised.  They completed the work quicky. I asked for leaf-less gutters and they provided gutters that were all one piece.  Insurance was involved with paying for the service.  Clean-up could have been a little better as I am still finding nails.  My daughter had to have a patch on her tire just yesterday due to one of the nails."

Deck Staining FAQs, answered by experts

Yes, many repair services include repainting to match the color of the existing siding or walls. Most professionals offer this service to ensure the repaired area blends in seamlessly.

Staining a deck with a rag is typically a better option than using a brush, as it helps the stain penetrate deeper into the wood. However, both brushes and rags are best reserved for detailed work because using these tools on an entire deck can require tediously crawling around on your hands and knees. A pad applicator, sprayer, or roller are preferred alternatives to applying stain over the majority of a deck. Use a rag for railings and other detailed work, and let the wood soak up as much of the stain as possible before wiping away drips or pools.

The best paint for an older deck depends on the material and whether or not your deck already has a coat of paint. Generally, if your deck already has paint on it, you should choose the same type of paint when repainting the deck. For example, if an old deck has oil-based paint on it, stick with oil; if your deck has water-based paint, choose water-based paint.

Wood stain is not flammable after it dries. The solvent in wood stain is what causes the liquid form to be highly flammable, but the stain drying process involves the solvents dissolving, which leaves behind a non-flammable product on your wood project. Wood stain is, however, flammable before you apply it, so you should always store partially full cans and used wood stain rags away from sources of heat and open flames.

To make sure the paint won’t bubble as you apply it, make sure to paint on a day that’s cooler than 85 degrees Fahrenheit. When the temperature is too high, the paint won’t dry evenly, which can result in bubbles forming on the surface. Another way to prevent paint from bubbling is to clean the walls, apply primer, and let everything dry completely before you begin.
