"I recently hired VillaSilva Flooring to install black porcelain herringbone tile in my laundry room, and I could not be happier with the results. Their professionalism, attention to detail, and craftsmanship were outstanding from start to finish. The project took three days, and their team arrived on time each morning, ready to work. They provided daily updates, keeping me informed on their progress, which I truly appreciated. Their remarkable precision in laying the herringbone pattern ensured perfect alignment and a flawless finish. Every tile was carefully placed, and they ensured everything was flush, creating a smooth, seamless look. If you are looking for a flooring company that values craftsmanship, reliability, and clear communication, I highly recommend VillaSilva Flooring. Their expertise and dedication to excellence truly set them apart. I will be using them again for future projects!"

"Great job all around. The sales rep came to our home and was very transparent about the timeline of the install being 10 weeks out. Let us know we wouldn’t really hear anything until a couple of weeks before the install. They did demo all the way down to the studs, disposed of all trash, re plumbed and installed the new shower in 2 days! We did financing through power pay with them as well. At first you might have a bit of sticker shock, but the quality of the finished product and amazing staff is well worth paying for. Fernando was always on time and amazing to work with. Great job!"

"Grande Remodeling did more than just pain. They removed all of the old flooring from the whole house and replaced it. They painted every room including the trim, ceilings and doors. They also did plumbing work and installed 2 pet doors. They were fast, polite, and reasonably priced. Even Julio's wife was very helpful. I would recommend them for everything."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

If you’re looking for a durable tile for a shower floor, consider porcelain, stone, or vinyl tiles. Each of these options, when installed correctly, will stand up well to everything from water and moisture to the impact from a dropped bottle of body wash. These materials are also easy to clean and maintain, making them popular options for shower floors.

Porcelain and ceramic tiles are made from clay, but porcelain tiles are fired in a kiln at a higher temperature. This makes them more durable, but it also means porcelain is more expensive than ceramic at $3 to $5 more per square foot.

Even with the higher price point, many people choose porcelain over ceramic because there are more color and design options.

Tile—specifically smaller, mosaic-style tiles—is the best type of flooring for building a walk-in shower base. Shower pans come with a threshold and sidewalls to contain the water, but tile can be set into the shower base. This creates a walk-in shower floor that gently slopes toward the drain to keep water from getting out and into the rest of the bathroom.

Yes, tile floor removal is a physically demanding project that takes between eight and 12 hours per 100 square feet. It also requires protective gear and closing the area off with construction-grade plastic sheeting to avoid dust and damage to other parts of your home.

You can, in theory, tile your fireplace hearth with most tiles. However just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. For example, it’s much better to use unglazed tiles because glazed tiles are more resistant to cracking under extreme heat. Porcelain is more heat-resistant than ceramic, but you can still design the hearth as you like by putting the most heat-resistant tiles directly under the fire and, if it matches your style, add more decorative tiles further from the center of the fire.
