"The team of 4 guys came and stretched out the wrinkles in the carpet of our new home. The job also entailed re-seaming the carpet at two doorways. In order to complete the job, they had to move heavy furniture out of the bedroom, and after the job was done, they vacuumed the carpet thoroughly. There were initial problems with the scheduling, but after the job was done, I was quite pleased. Initially, I called and spoke with Tracy. He quoted a price and was happy to schedule a time the following day to do the job. I was told they'd be there between 4-6 PM. When no one had shown up by 7PM, I called their number to ask for the appt to be rescheduled. I got a phone call from Tracy the following day, and he was extremely apologetic. He had misspelled my street name, so he couldn't find our address in his GPS. He also had not written down my phone number, so couldn't call back. He did come out the following afternoon. He gave us an additional discount because of the mix-up. My biggest complaint is that the work crew all smelled of cigarette smoke, and an hour after they've left, I've been forced to spray room freshener to hide the residual smoky smell. "
"Andy Shoemaker did a great job. The original quote was $200, but the job took slightly less time than anticipated. The window sill looks great. As an added bonus, he removed the torn carpet and chewed-up pad, and adjusted the hinges on my double-door linen closet since they were not hanging straight (the doors were colliding, making it difficult to close them). Andy returned my call promptly, showed up on time to offer an estimate, set an appointment and returned to complete the work at the time and date scheduled. And he's very personable. I wouldn't hesitate to use this service again."
Typically, it takes a few hours, depending on the extent and area of repairs needed.
In addition to having your carpets professionally cleaned, most carpet cleaners offer a range of supplemental services and treatments, including:
Patching and repairing holes: $100–$250 per hole
Carpet stretching to remove wrinkles: $60 per hour
Water extraction: $450–$2,000, depending on square footage
Pet stain and odor removal: $30–$50 per hour
Furniture and upholstery cleaning: $50–$80 per item
Furniture moving and removal: $10–$50 per item
Padding replacement: $4–$7 per square foot
Teflon treatment: $20–$40 per project
Environmentally friendly carpet cleaning: $100–$200 per room
If you live in a region with high humidity, carpet bubbling can occur regularly. A dehumidifier can help keep your carpet flat during the most humid months.
Most people realize it is time to replace the padding when the carpet loses springiness or feels thin and unsupportive. Other telltale signs are lumps or dips in the carpet that could look unattractive or cause tripping hazards. Similarly, if your carpet is making a crinkly sound or starting to wear out prematurely, you might need to replace your padding.
Carpet stretching isn’t permanent, but it can last anywhere from two to six years. The longevity of this project depends on the quality of the carpet and whether it’s in a high-traffic area. You might not be able to stretch old or damaged carpets because they can tear. Certain fibers, like nylon, stretch better than others.
