"They do great work! From puncutality to price, we will use no other company going forward. Since building a bedroom in our basement, we just had them back last week. We have/had a very small kitchen space in our typical 3 bedroom brick ranch in Chicago. We hired Pawel to remove the adjoining bedroom which we've converted into dining space. "We contacted Hansen Brothers on the recommendation of our roofers to install the electrical outlet for a roof heat cable and to discuss our front steps project. Until this point, it was difficult to get anyone to accept the front steps project. Masonry contractors would not handle cement and cement contractors would not handle masonry. We needed a general contractor to help and Hansen Brothers came highly recommended. Bob Hansen sent his son over to check on the electrical outlet needs and Bob came to assess the front steps project. He listened to my requests and introduced us to a metal worker who would fabricate the new handrails. We made a railing selection and then we discussed the timing to complete the project. In the interim, Bob's son Eric installed the roof power outlet and back door sconce satisfactorily. We started the big project of the steps replacement mid-September and it took several weeks to complete, there was much to coordinate to get this project done properly. Bob was in constant communication about the progress. We had a bit of a slow down waiting for the cement contractor to deliver the concrete, but once that happened, everything else came together. The final electrical pieces and masonry work were completed shortly after the steps were done.  Everything turned out beautifully!  Bob's experience and familiarity with Chicago homes was evident. He gave sound advice and provided some excellent suggestions with our projects. Our neighbors have also commented on how well things turned out. I would indeed contract with Hansen Brothers again for my home projects and will recommend Bob Hansen to my family and friends. I feel we have finally found a trusted general contractor who is responsive who takes pride in his work.

"Juan and his helper arrived on time. They capped the box, removed and then re-installed the stairs handrail more securely, and did a great job painting the hallway. I thought his quote was a bit on the high side, but the professionalism and care in making sure I was happy with the job was worth it."

"I obtained several quotes. Benchmark was at least $100 less than the 4 other quotes for the same door with windows, t-handle/lock, and installation/disposal.  I received a call back from John W. within 30 minutes of my initial voice mail at 4:30 on Good Friday which was totally unexpected. The following Tuesday morning I called him to say we wanted to go ahead. He came out around 4:30 that day for measurements and to sign the paperwork. I wanted a Saturday appointment since my husband would be home  to remove some canoes and kayaks we stored in the garage so the installer could access the garage door tracks. John was able to schedule us for that coming Saturday morning. He would have been able to come within a couple days if that would have worked for us. On Saturday morning the installer showed up promptly. My husband had a slow start that morning and had not moved much out of the garage by the time the installer arrived. The installer was able to work around everything (which my husband's choice, not something Benchmark recommended just in case a tool got dropped on our kayak). The job was done within a couple hours, the old door and parts were hauled away, and it looks and functions great.
John is very nice, professional, and did not pressure me into buying something I didn't want or need.  Overall the transaction went very smoothly from start to finish. I would highly recommend Benchmark for a garage door installation.

"Everything exceeded my expectations.  
I called Chris in the morning and he was out to give me an estimate by that afternoon.  Chris walked me around the house pointing out what he suggested in terms of surface prep, paint, and minor repairs.  I had an estimate in hand prior to him leaving.
While CQ was ever so slighly more than the other estimates I received, I appreciated the high energy level, professionalism, and sharing of how he would suggest doing things.
Everything went according to schedule, the team was on time for all aspects of the job.
Time:
About 2 hours for power washing
2 days for painting
1-2 hours for the garage door trim and the painting of the house numbers - an unexpected nice touch!
Results: 
The team did an amazing job - far better than if I had done it myself (and I did the prior 2 times).  The team paid attention to all the details, and cleaned up everything after each phase of the work.
We used a low temperature paint as we were doing this late in the season.
It was the little things that made the experience especially positive, from offering to install the new front door lock set to the garage door trim repair to the painting of the house numbers to the attention to detail and precision of his crew.
Chris was easy going and very responsive via email or telephone.  He took care of everything we asked for.
