*** WE DO NOT BUILD, SELL OR SERVICE ABOVE GROUND POOLS. In-Ground Pools Only *** Prestige Pools & Spas is St. Louis’ number one award-winning pool and hot tub company. "Horrible! Prestige pools promised the world when selling us the pool and fell short at every turn. I own a home renovation company so know the game. Signed contract because they promised it would be built before the winter. Mid June after many calls they finally started. They worked a day here....a day there....never letting us know when or why . I made many calls asking when the guys would build because of what was promised and I needed to get more concrete done around the pool once they were done. Secretary every time was like talking to a recording, saying the same bull they tell everyone on why pool wasn’t done. I ended up hiring my own crew to backfill ditch in yard and grade yard that had huge piles of dirt for months left . They left a massive pile of gravel in middle of yard no where close to pool for me to get rid of. My pump pipes leaning so bad I have to re do. Concrete around the pool is undermined all over . Left concrete dust in pool and made us vacuum up. Cracks in concrete, tape , caution tape, and trash left all over the place. No matter how many calls I make they never show to finish. They take half the money on start, almost half half way through, and never show up to finish. They take as many jobs as they can to sell and once they get money you will wait forever to get started and they will put you on the back burner to finish if they even do. Worse experience ever. If I ran my business like prestige I wouldn’t have a business"

"Choosing this company to install my grandparents pool was the worst decision. Had we known the nightmare it would be working with them (starting from day 1)... we would have never worked with them. Our experience spans 3 summers so this isn’t a reactive response, but one that’s complied over several years. Same awful experience year after year. First off, Patty in the office is rude, unresponsive and has zero customer service. Initially, our biggest complaint was the lack of communication. Never any communication on next steps of the project. Contractors would just show up without notice. Every phone call asking for information or timelines led to curt responses and excuses. Then there were the things done wrong in the project. They installed the wrong tile onto the pool. They did the plumbing wrong for the pool which was pointed out to us by a highly reputable pool company. Several issues with the pool and they don’t want to help remedy mechanical issues still under warranty but not working properly. We would love nothing more than to wash our hands of this company entirely... unfortunately, other pool companies only want to service pools they install. Steer away from this company."

Outdoor Living Space, Swimming Pool Contractor, Swimming Pool Repair, Decorative Concrete

"4 days ago I was warned to stay away from Pool Tron for multiple reasons, primarily because the company overcharges. However I hired them anyway for weekly service, maintenance and repairs because they seemed professional and also have the capability to take care of our problematic automatic pool cover. I am willing to pay more for superior, dependable work and peace of mind. However, I immediately noticed that they were adding more chemicals than our previous company and our monthly bills were much higher. I decided to trust Pool Tron to know more than others about what our pool needed and did not challenge the bills. Then there were costly mistakes, and a couple big ticket repairs needed. For one, the project did not begin until 8 months after the contract was signed, took 3 weeks to complete, was very messy, and the charge alarmingly higher than the verbal bid. After lengthy discussions, we agreed to a compromise payment. Last summer we needed to clean the cover trough, and replace the ropes and sliders. I was told that the ropes and sliders had not been replaced when we bought a new cover a few years earlier. Looking back at the invoices, I discovered this was not true. All three of these jobs were done on separate trips, each one requiring removing stones from the pool deck and having a caulker come to replace them. It was inconvenient and very expensive. On multiple occasions, we were charged double the retail prices for parts, and then an absurd amount of salt. In 2018 alone, we were billed for 38 bags of salt. After discussions with one of the Pool Tron technicians, other pool owners and pool companies, and online articles, we were embarrassed to learn that salt water pools typically need only a couple bags upon opening, and then possibly more later in the summer after a big rain or leak. Clearly Pool Tron had determined that we were stupid or wealthy enough not to notice, and they could get away with this injurious act. I had decided after closing the pool in the fall that we needed to discontinue our business with Pool Tron. I had not entered into a contract with a new company because I dreaded the time sink involved in a search. Then the coronavirus quarantine and shut down caused further delays. Now all the recommended pool companies are overbooked. I did not plan to fire Pool Tron until I had another service in place. When I called the service manager a few weeks ago to discuss the salt charges, and the replacement of an undersized T-Cell they had sold us 2 years ago, I was told that they were discontinuing our service immediately due to the "profit margin". That left us without anyone taking care of our pool at a very busy time. After testing the water ourselves, we discovered Poot Tron has put so much salt into the pool that we may have to drain it and start with fresh water in order to get the level correct. Our experience with Pool Tron was stressful, expensive and traumatic. It is extremely upsetting that a well reputed company in our community could operate in such a dishonest manner."

Pool Construction and Installation questions, answered by experts

Small animals, particularly rats and mice, like to burrow inside pool heaters. To keep them out, seal any entry points with caulk or steel wool. Then, place mothballs inside or around your pool heater. As a final measure of protection, you can cover the pool heater in hardware cloth or wood paneling to further block entry points.

You should always check your user's manual for the weight capacity of your pool enclosure. In most cases, it is not safe for someone to walk on their enclosure. Professional pool installers will have more experience in repairing enclosure roofs and how to scale them without risking injury.

Each state has its own regulations about pool fences, and laws to protect both swimmers and pool owners. Before installing a pool, you’ll need to research what the pool laws in your state, city, and county are to ensure that you’re adhering to the legal regulations. Inground pools typically need to have a fence around the entirety of them, but the rules regarding above-ground pools are less stringent. A good rule of thumb is to always have a fence around your pool to ensure safety for all.

Depending on your budget, wants, and needs, a pool enclosure can be a worthwhile investment. It all comes down to how much you use your pool, and what it would mean to you to have year-round access to it.

If you know that you'll swim in your pool a lot, then having an enclosure means you don't have to worry about the weather. It's also a lot easier to maintain the water, because you don't have to deal with leaves falling into the pool, and the water's chemical levels tend to be more stable.

There are many factors to consider when building an in-ground concrete pool. This includes the pool’s primary purpose (relaxation or exercise) if you live in a warm or cold climate (how often it’ll be used), and if you have the budget for chemical treatments and pool maintenance. In-ground pools are often more costly than aboveground pools, but they’re considered more luxurious and hold more value.
