"Tom and his team did a great job. They recommended the insulation, did the drywall job and were able to trim out areas in tight spaces. They also recommended an LVT floor which turned out really great for my new office/studio space."

"I was impressed by the speed of their response which was extremely fast. Within two days we were scheduled for an on-site visit and a very reasonable quote and start date two days later. Raul was there on time and obtained wallboard meeting my technical specification. Wall board was hung in my garage, plastered and drying overnight; the next morning sanding was completed and ready for priming. It was like the Taladega 500 - professional, done quickly and the results were excellent. I will ask him again when I need drywall work."

"We had some drywall repair work where our ceiling had gotten wet, then painting in 2 bathrooms where the paint was old and mold hard to control. The repair work is great and the whole area looks like new. Great attention to detail in the bathrooms, they look better than ever. The crew was great about covering floors and areas where dust or paint drips could fall. They asked good questions and took care of all concerns. We will have them back - more to do in an older house."

"Thomas drywalled and painted our garage. His work was excellent but more importantly he?s the ultimate professional. Thomas arrived on time each day and kept us informed on everything. His price was fair and billing easy. I definitely would hire him again."

"Allure Interiors handled a complete rehab of my lower living space that suffered some water damage from a sump pump failure. He came in after the water and asbestos remediation and repaired the drywall so that you can’t see the repair. He then proceeded to complete the floor using tile and vinyl plank flooring. Finished up by painting the area. All work was done on time and looks great. Nick is easy to work with and pays attention to details."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

If you want to reduce sound transmission throughout your home, soundproofing drywall is a better choice than standard drywall. However, simply installing soundproofing drywall may not completely block out noise. You’ll get the best results from incorporating it into a larger soundproofing plan that includes proper insulation and framing studs.

You should leave a gap between drywall sheets because they naturally expand and contract along with the building framing as temperature and humidity change. Most pro drywall installers leave a gap of about ⅛ inch between drywall sheets, allowing the sheets to expand, contract, and shift without cracking or becoming damaged. If you don’t leave enough gaps between slabs, the edges will press against each other when they expand, and the pressure can cause visible cracks.

Choose a drill bit that is the size of the screws of the anchors you will use. You aren’t drilling through metal or concrete—hopefully—so any standard twist, wooden or all-purpose drill bit will work fine. It’s also important to have a screwdriver capable of drilling through the drywall and into the stud. The good news is most available drills, even the older ones, can do this with no issue.

Plaster that sags or bulges, shows extensive deep cracks, or is crumbling from water damage or simply time may need replacement. Plaster walls can look a little “worn” for a long time before they need replacing. The only real way to know if it needs a replacement is to hire a professional to assess the condition of the plaster.

It’s always better to follow proven drywall repair tips and fix the seams that look bad. However, if you simply want to make them less noticeable until you have time to fix them, you can use paint. A darker color of paint makes bad drywall tape seams less noticeable than light-colored paint. Matte paint hides bad seams better than glossy paint does, too.
