Our company is a nationally ranked at AAA for quality with awards, our customer base most of Chicago land suburbs,Normal trip and diagnostic charge 89.95 Emergency service trip and diagnostic charge 89.95, part warranties per manufacture, new equipment warranties 90 day, 1 year, 5 year, 10 year

"DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They wrongly installed new equipment and refuse to correct it. -------------- Here's the scam: Sell and put in a unit that mostly works, but needs annual repairs due to your incorrect installation. Parts are under warranty, but the service/labor is not, so you'll constantly call them out to work on the issues they created but refuse to actually fix. --------------- Eagle Air was recommended by my home warranty, American Home Shield. They replaced 2 full HVAC systems (furnaces and A/C) in my home. Total cost $15K+ Unbeknownst to me they did not replace the original copper lines. Replacement is standard when putting in a new unit as old lines are prone to leak. Per the installation manuals from the manufacturer, these lines are not the correct size for either of the units. I had an independent, licensed HVAC repair company out to confirm this as well. When this was brought to Eagle's attention, Angie said "We don't know if that's true. People lie about our work all the time." When I spoke to Tony, sent him images in email, he said "Don't worry about it." We scheduled an appointment in 5 days them to come assess the issues. I took off work for the day to wait 10-2p. At 1:25 I called to check in. Angie told me they were not coming. That they had cancelled the visit as I didn't want to pay the $149 travel fee (as these issues were part of their initial install) and that they didn't like the way I treated them. I was also not allowed to speak with Tony. They are refusing further communication and are not accountable for their own work. They knowingly installed this not to manufacture's speculations. This choice creates ongoing problems with the unit. As a customer and not an HVAC tech, I never would have identified this incorrect install without a 3rd party."

"12/29/22. Called @ 2:14PM CST. EXTREMEMLY RUDE!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! I called 815-916-9117, man answers the phone as if he's iritated that he is alive, "This is ComfortMax." I respond, "Hi, how are you?" Who am I speaking with? ...with a smile in my voice. This rude man hangs up the call. I call back again. I say, Hi, how are you?' he hangs up again. I called a 3rd time, he sends the call straight to voicemail. Naturally, I left a voicemail advising how rude he is for hanging up on a potential customer. Educate yourself on customer service and phone etiquettecy. Practices being kind at all times. When you are answering a business phone, the proper way is to state the company's name and identify yourself by providing your name. No one should have to ask for your name, nor should you hang up on someone because they did and inquired about YOUR wellbeing. REPEAT, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! THEY ARE EXTREMELY RUDE!!!"

Heating and air conditioning services FAQs

Knowing how long your existing HVAC units can last is essential to determine if you need a repair or replacement. Typically, most modern air conditioning units can last between 15 to 20 years, and most furnaces can work properly for 15 to 30 years. If your HVAC system is on the older side and you decide to replace one unit, it might make sense to replace both simultaneously to save on costs and future hassle.

While different HVAC contractors might offer higher or lower prices than competitors, the best time to replace your HVAC system is when customer demand is low. The beginning of summer and the beginning of winter bring the most demand for HVAC systems, so if you can, consider replacing your HVAC units in the early spring or fall. Many HVAC companies offer special off-season coupons that help lower the overall cost.

The average cost to hire an HVAC contractor is between $50 and $150 per hour if charging hourly. However, some HVAC contractors will charge a flat fee by the type of service they are performing—for example, an inspection can cost between $150 to $500. Keep in mind that emergency repairs—which are made after business hours or around major holidays—generally cost more than scheduled repairs.

Yes, most states require HVAC technicians to be certified, and for good reason. Hiring an unlicensed HVAC technician could lead to poor quality work, costly future expenses, and potential code violations.

As you browse our pro listings, take note of the “Angi Approved” badge. Angi Approved businesses meet our standards for certification which include:

  • The owner, principal, or relevant manager passed a criminal background check

  • Required to have applicable state and local licenses

  • Maintain an average star rating of 3.0 or better on our network, if they have at least one review

  • Paying to advertise their services

  • Meeting any other eligibility criteria required by Angi

Keep in mind licensing is different from certifications. A license is a legal requirement to operate a business, while certifications are voluntary.

The average cost of HVAC repairs is around $350. However, that price can be as low as $100 or as high as $2,000 or more, depending on the repair. For example, replacing a capacitor is a relatively inexpensive repair, ranging from $100 to $500. However, a compressor repair is a more expensive repair, ranging from $750 to $2,000.
