Srote & Co Architects provides full-service architectural expertise and interior design in both residential and commercial markets. The firm's residential segment is specialized in the design of luxury homes and estate properties, while the commercial segment specializes in project master planning, programming and architectural design.

"Schaub+Srote Architecture Firm should be your first choice for your home building project, here’s why: In my first meeting with them I was a bit nervous but that quickly went away due to their professionalism, knowledge, qualifications and their personalities that made me feel at ease and like we were on the same page. After giving them several of my ideas as far as looks, layout, type of home and genre, I hit them with something I thought was going to scare or detour them from my project...the fact that I’m paralyzed and need a COMPLETELY ACCESSIBLE home! Boy was I wrong! They put me at ease with their knowledge of ADA laws and in describing several past projects they worked on with the same parameters. In a timely manner, they returned back with my DREAM HOME! I was in shock! After just our initial meeting, they drew up plans for something I have always pictured but couldn’t put on paper...they did it! I couldn’t be any happier with the design they provided. It is a testament to their attention to detail, knowledge and vast experience. After a few SMALL tweaks, we were ready to go. Throughout the building process, Schaub+Srote acted as my general contractor, due to my limited ability. They were at the job site constantly, talking with contractors and overseeing the project was not only done right, but in a timely manner. Throughout the entire build, I was given several updates as to work that was completed and upcoming work to be completed. They were at my disposal, through phone, conference calls, email, texts and even in person. Whenever I wanted to talk to them, they made themselves available. They NEVER made me feel like I was a bother to them or a disruption to their work, but rather a part of my project and the process. Throughout this process, I also worked tirelessly with interior designer, Heather Helms. She had the same level of professionalism, knowledge, experience and pleasant demeanor, as Schaub+Srote. She helped me pick EVERYTHING for my new home and balanced perfectly, the fine line of her knowledge with my tastes. I NEVER once felt she was over reaching or thinking all my ideas were horrible. I felt more like we were a team and she loved my ideas and she helped bring everything together! It is for these reasons I, not only, give Schaub+Srote Architecture Firm five stars, I will ALWAYS consider them family and maintain close contact with each and every one of them!"

Interior Design and Decorating questions, answered by experts

Costs range from $50 to $200 per hour or $2,000 to $10,000 per project, depending on scope and experience.

Before hiring an interior designer, ask a few questions to better understand how they work, what’s expected of you, and what they promise to deliver.

  • How long will the project take to complete?

  • What type of services do you offer?

  • Can you provide a project estimate?

  • Do you work with subcontractors?

  • Are you licensed or certified in this state?

  • Do you have a portfolio of previous work I can review?

  • May I contact your customer references?

  • How do you handle change orders?

  • How do you handle payment?

Most interior designers have at least a four-year degree, if not an advanced degree in interior design. Additionally, many states require interior designers to be licensed. If your state does not require licensing, interior designers can take a licensing exam with the National Council of Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ). Overall, licensing requirements vary from state to state, but most licenses require certain education levels and experience to qualify. To check the qualifications of your interior designer, use Angi’s state licensing tool.

Neoclassical architecture is all about simplicity and balance without losing the drama of its style. White, gray, cream, and other soft pastels are common. Many homeowners choose a deep natural hue for a pop of color, such as jewel tones or black accents. Modern neoclassical architecture also incorporates brick facades, bringing red into the color scheme.

The cost to hire an interior designer is $8,170 on average. You could pay as low as $200 for a small project that doesn’t take more than an hour or as much as $65,000 for a whole-home design project.

Since residential interior designers mostly charge by the hour, you can expect to pay between $50 and $200 per hour. However, if your designer is in a high-cost area, you could spend up to $500 per hour. These prices do not include material costs, which, depending on what you add to your home, could be costly.
