"The people on the phone and the workers that worked at my house were fantastic. Damien and Ernest were the installer's top rate people. Jack, their license plumber was polite and funny. The only person we didn't care for was Keith He only stopped by to look at what was going on. He was a little rude to my wife and Made her feel Like she was second class in her own home. We Were very shocked by that. We would definitely recommend Jacuzzi to our friends."

"Provider was prompt, professional and friendly.  Arrived at the agreed upon time for a free estimate and performed work same-day after we agreed to the price.  He stuck to the price despite taking longer than expected and more work than usual due to worn-rusted pipes in my home.  Cleaned-up after himself and left no sign that work was done other than our new, working toilets.  We are very pleased and reccomend McDonagh & Sons Plumbing & Sewer Inc.

Sump Pump - Repair or Replace

"This review is well over due. Now that we have the drain tile system we have not received any flooding The day he began Brian's team came to our house promptly in the morning at 8am. They immediately started jack hammering the floor around the perimeter of the basement. While two men jack hammered on opposite ends the rest of the team followed behind them clearing debris and bringing the large pieces to a truck to be hauled away. They then installed the drain pipe, sump pumps, and poured cement. They were able to compete the project within 8 hours. I was definitely impressed! Now that it is a year later with 3 seasons behind us we cannot complain about his installation of the drainage system. Furthermore, one year later he still provided us with exceptional customer service. Oddly enough our pipes connected to our sump pump that takes the water from the drain tile to the backyard became detached. He responded asap with putting the detached pipes from the sump pump back together and making sure what happened will not happen again. What I liked about him in comparison to the other companies was his approach. No sales techniques, nothing gimmicky just genuine and straight shooter type of guy. He believes in his service, no thrills and whistles to the product. Just common sense solutions with quality service. It's your house your investment. Call this guy, no "BS" to it. He won't let you down.

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

As homes age in Salem, original galvanized steel supply pipes corrode and restrict water pressure. Properties built mid-century face brittle plastic drain lines and mineral scaling inside copper pipes from hard groundwater. Sump pumps require replacement every decade due to heavy use in clay soils. Additionally, hard water accelerates sediment buildup, which shortens water heater lifespans and necessitates premature replacements in older local homes.

Helpful?

A key sign of correct plumbing work in Salem is a passed inspection record and a finalized permit from local authorities. Proper installations also feature visible backflow prevention devices, which state law requires. Correctly done work accounts for our cold winters with properly insulated or interior-routed pipes. Quality materials that resist mineral buildup from local hard groundwater also indicate a thorough job.

Helpful?

Pipe routing in unheated crawl spaces is highly vulnerable to freezing if improperly insulated. Underground supply and drain lines are also sensitive to shortcuts, as expansive clay soils in Salem shift and cause poorly bedded pipes to crack. Connecting older clay sewer laterals to modern plastic pipes requires exact techniques to prevent root intrusion. Finally, improper vent stack installations violate IL state codes and risk dangerous sewer gas leaks.

Helpful?

Build a seasonal routine by disconnecting outdoor hose bibs and checking pipe insulation before the first hard freeze hits Salem. During winter, monitor water pressure and inspect exterior-wall sinks for frost. Spring is the time to test sump pump function and check for joint leaks caused by freeze-thaw cycles. In summer, inspect outdoor spigots and test your pressure-reducing valve to handle high-demand municipal pressure fluctuations.

Helpful?

Start by securing all necessary permits and verifying your professional holds a valid IL state license. For outdoor plumbing projects, schedule the work during late spring or early fall to avoid frozen ground and wet, unstable clay soils. Always notify the state utility locating service two days before any excavation begins. Finally, request municipal sewer maps to understand your property's underground layout before digging starts.
