"I used to work in the security industry. Once I got married and had kids I definitely wanted a home security system. Bought ADT about a month ago and it’s worked out excellent. No glitches or issues and everyone was awesome in the buying and activation process."

Small jobs welcome

"We received several bids since occupying our new home. Some offered very efficient systems, but their costs were prohibitive. Others designed a system with just enough capacity to qualify for lower SRP rates. When contacted by Grand Energy, I told them not to waste my time with promises they could not keep. In response, Grand Energy designed a highly efficient system with a price point $6-$10K below the other bids. Once plans were approved by the local building departments, the installation began the next day! Activation occurred within the month. Hats off to Roenic and Tommy. And our first month's utility bill after activation is a credit."

Marco personally makes sure all aspects of the security system (sensors/cameras/monitoring/applications) are working seamlessly before project completion. He was a pleasure to work with and his associates were top notch."

"We have our second home in the mountain so they were able to send it and he was able to work with our installers and it worked out fine. So far we were are pleased with it. Home Security Systems questions, answered by experts

You don’t need to completely revamp your security system constantly, but it’s a great idea to give it a once-over every year. Look for potential upgrades or new features—like smart home tech or replacing outdated equipment—that could boost your safety. If you make any significant changes, let your insurer know as they may adjust your discounts to reflect your improved security. Staying on top of your security not only keeps your home safe but ensures you’re getting the best possible rate on your insurance.

Leaving a light on at night probably does not deter burglars as much as we would like. While there isn’t much evidence supporting the theory that lights deter burglars, there’s not anything disproving it either. If you feel like it offers added security because a burglar thinks you’re at home, then you can set your lights to a timer so they go off and on at intervals, mimicking someone moving around inside the house at night. A better idea is to install motion sensor lights in your yard.

Whether a security system or security cameras is a better choice for you depends on your needs and preferred comfort level. A security system can cost more depending on the features you choose, but it’s a more proactive and protective approach to home security by alerting you and authorities of any emergencies. Using a security camera system is a more reactive approach because while you can monitor the camera footage, it does not alert the proper authorities for you.

Security experts recommend deadbolt locks as the most secure option for a house's exterior or entry doors. Deadbolts provide the best security because they can prevent most types of forced entry and are harder to lockpick. Common types include the standard single-cylinder deadbolt, which is often found on front doors. For enhanced security, you can opt for a double-cylinder deadbolt, which requires a key to operate from both the inside and the outside.

A steel door that's been toughened up with extra materials creates the perfect barrier. These bad boys are way stronger than your typical wooden or fiberglass doors, making them a fantastic choice for folks who want that extra layer of security for their homes. So, if you're all about keeping things super secure, a reinforced steel door will cost you more, but it is your best bet.
