"Dave Dilger, from Holiday Creation, was professional, courteous, pleasant and produced a beautiful design for my house.  The cost was high, but the design looked was perfect.  I told him what I wanted changed and we settled on a design.  Within 10 days, workers came to decorate my house.  One problem was that they kept knocking on the front door and asking what was suppose to be done.  Finally, I printed out the design picture of the house on my printer and handed it to them.  The workers did two major things wrong;  the large tree in front was supposed to be decorated to the TO THE TOP (as shown in the picture).   Even after I called, and a second group of workers returned, they could not reach the top.  The representative, Dave, agreed it should be to top, but I gave up calling to have it altered. Holiday Creations should have used a cherry picker instead of long poles.  The poles seemed to be too short to ever reach the top, even when the workers stood on a ladder with a pole.  Second, the garland was suppose to be wrapped 5 times around the front columns near front door.  The first set of workers wrapped the garland sloppily THREE times around.  When they returned to fix this, it did get done.  A third thing also occurred;  the timer for the front of the house was set 20 minutes before the other timer, which controlled the rest of the house.  This happened when the workers came out for the second time to work on the front tree.  I didn't complain as it was almost Christmas.
Finally, the company said they would start taking down Christmas lights Jan. 2nd.   Three weeks after that, my husband and daughter asked me to call as they were embarressed by the lights, since everyone around us had stopped having lights by Jan. 9.  I called and workers did come to my house within days.
The wreath supplied in my package, when put on my house was far too small.  So, when I first called, Dave Dilger upgraded the wreath to a 4 ft. wreath without cost.  He also assured me that the work would be fixed and shouldn't have been left as it was.  I have not called HC yet, but when when pre-paying, I am going to request that we take care of the wreath and ask if they wanted to alter the price, or decorate something else.
Everyone associated with the office and Dave Dilger genuinely wanted to have top notch work done, were very helpful in retictifying anything which wasn't right, and overall I enjoyed my experience with the company and look forward to having moving my house decorated next year.  I learned that I needed to follow the workers and check the work out before they leave, and that if anything needs to be fixed, changed, etc., I must followup with Dave and/or the office staff everyday until it is to my satisfaction.  When I was dealing with Dave or the office staff, I felt confident that the work would get done properly.  However, their workers weren't as professional and meticulous as I had hoped.

"Ken did a fabulous job. He had painted a different home for me over 5 years ago, but I remembered that he did a great job at a great price, so I called him back when I purchased another home. I needed the house to be painted a week that I had to go out of town. Ken was extremely professional, reliable and trustworthy. I gave him the instructions, a key to my house and went out of town for the week. When I returned over the weekend, the work was complete and was high quality. He called me after the work was completed and asked if there was any touch up work needed. There were only a few spots that needed touching up and he quickly returned to do those. If you need a high quality paint job at an affordable price, I would highly recommend Ken."

Holiday Decorating questions, answered by experts

If you only need strands in safe and easy-to-reach locations and are sure of your electrical system, you can probably purchase and install lights yourself. To do this, carefully test your outlets to ensure there aren’t any sparks or other concerning issues. Your budget might also influence this decision, as going the DIY route can be significantly cheaper.

Hiring a professional for holiday decorating, especially for hanging lights, is often well worth the investment for several reasons. A key benefit is safety; if you are physically unable to hang lights due to injury, or if your home has multiple stories or other high places that pose a safety hazard, a professional can handle the job securely. They also have the expertise to assess your electrical system to ensure it can handle the load. Hiring a pro is also a great option for homeowners who lack the time or capability to decorate. Professionals can create a stylish, chic, and upscale look that will wow your guests, and they may even save you money on decor. Finally, many holiday lighting experts include maintenance and repairs as part of their rates, ensuring your display looks great throughout the season without any extra effort on your part.

Heavy amounts of snow could be a problem. In many climates, lots of snow on your rooftop can lead to freeze-thaw cycle that create ice dams, which can damage rooftops. But if you’re using shingle clips, this snow poses an additional problem: As it melts and freezes, it can easily dislodge clips you’ve placed on your roof.

You can clean snow off your roof after a fresh snowfall while it’s still lightweight, but brushing off snow can also dislodge your clips. If you get a lot of snow, then roof clips become less viable.

Yes, a holiday lighting installation can be a DIY project. While it is possible for homeowners to do it themselves, it's crucial to ensure all safety precautions are taken. This includes using the proper tools, following electrical safety guidelines, and carefully planning the layout. For large or high displays, professional installation is often recommended to ensure safety and a more polished appearance.

Several options for hanging Christmas lights won't damage gutters. Using shingle clips avoids any hardware contact with them, and using plastic gutter clips minimizes the likelihood of scratching gutters. Remember not to rest a ladder, especially a metal one, against the gutters, and use a ladder stand-off device or stabilizer if you need to use an extension ladder.
