"Americana did excellent job installing our fence. Our sales representative was Mike Joudeh and he was very honest and caring. The girls in the office were amazing as well as our installation team. "Jeff Winton and crew at Aspen are great to work with. Quality work and fair price. Last year, they installed a three-rail red cedar split rail with galvanized welded wire and three gates for our backyard (about 1/2 an acre) in a day-and-a-half."

"This company was recommended to me by Century Tile a few years back and he did some work and  I was very satisfied so I kept his name for future projects. I have also referenced them to my family and friends with everyone being totally satisfied . The work he and his crew did for me has always been very proffesional and they start and finish.  I needed to upgrade alot of things in my house, a list from my wife, and George has a lot of experience with rehabbing so he was a perfect match.  His wife, Maria, is a great inside person getting all the materials ordered and delivered on time for every project.  My wife is happy with all the upgrades and I am happy for the great bundle discount he provided! If you have a lot of miscellaneous projects this company can do it with no problem."

Driveway Gates questions, answered by experts

You can install a privacy cover on your wrought iron gate anytime. However, pick a dry day if you apply stain or paint to the paneling. If you’re hiring a local fencing contractor, they often offer better rates in their low season outside the busy spring and summer months.

Locksmiths offer keyless entry systems, high-security locks, panic bars, electronic access control, and biometric security solutions.

For homeowners concerned about security, an electric gate may offer peace of mind. Electric gates will require a code or remote to open, so you don’t have to worry about young children getting out of the yard or someone breaking onto your property by simply swinging open the gate. But because it needs power to operate, installing an electric gate will be more complex and expensive.

While many gate hinges are often made of extremely durable materials, such as galvanized steel, they can wear out after many years. How quickly they wear out also depends on how much use they’ve endured. It’s also possible for the hinge screws to fall out, which weakens the hinge. Once a hinge wears out, it’s time for a replacement so your gate doesn’t start sagging.

In most cases, you will need a permit to install a new driveway or property gate. An exception might be if you are simply replacing an existing gate. Before issuing a permit, your local municipality may require a site plan or survey to verify property lines and prevent encroachment on a neighbor's property. Permits for a gate typically cost under $100. Be aware that corner properties may have additional restrictions on gate height or style. It's wise to confirm permit requirements with your local building department or your gate installation company, which can usually handle the entire permitting process for you.
