"Dave and his crew did an awesome job building some wainscoting and trim over my fireplace. He designed it so it complemented and carried through the shape of the built in shelving on either side. It was all his design. It turned out better than I ever could have hoped for. Highly recommend."

"I have worked with JD Woodworking for 13 years. They have I fort hired them to install cabinets. I was so impressed with their work and professionalism that I hired them in my next house for a custom office, home theatre and bar. Each of these projects were custom built from the cabinets to the coffered ceilings. I have recommended them to several friends and I would recommend them again without hesitation."

"We tore down a deck and concrete stairs to install a patio and needed to repair the siding that had been hidden. I needed work done quickly for inspection approval and not hold up the patio. Nick was out the same day to give me a quote and Dane was out the next day to start work. He found some rot behind the siding and we needed to do a bit more extensive repairs than planned. Dane (who was using only one hand due to surgery) was somehow able to do the structural repair and the siding in just 2 days. He did a great job and the new siding looks great with the new patio. I have used Handyman Pros several times and will call them again when I need some work done!"

Small jobs welcome

"We are highly satisfied with the work we had completed. Insulation, drywall, framing repair, beam and post work, and painting. The basement looks great and we would definitely use them again in the future. Communication is great, pricing is fair, and there is a lot of care put into the work that they do."

"We are extremely pleased with Biango Construction. We hired Nick to build a screened porch and patio. He was professional, thorough and reasonably priced. Communication was fantastic throughout the project. With the few challenges we ran into, Nick always had a solution that worked well and looks great. Nick and his team always showed up on time, did high quality work and finished on schedule. He pays attention to the details and takes great pride in his work. Biango Construction has earned our continued business and a 5 star review."

"It went wonderfully, he's meticulous, always on time, always very professional and courteous.  He's very neat, when he's done at night he puts his tools out of the way of anyone in the household. he's excellent. the wallpaper is excellent, you really have to look to find a seam.  there was wall paper on the ceiling before, the person who did it before didn't connect that to the wall,s he had to install crown molding.  He did an excllent jogbon that also"

Woodworking questions, answered by experts

The boards between floor joists are called bridging or blocking boards. These are the shortest pieces of wood in the flooring system—with beams being the longest and joists sitting somewhere in the middle—and they serve to reinforce the joists and help provide even support to the flooring above. Bridging specifically helps cut down on uneven and creaking floors in your living area.

Yes, carpenters can fix squeaky floors. They have the expertise to identify the source of the squeak, whether it’s loose floorboards, subfloor issues, or joist problems. These experts also have the right tools and hands-on knowledge to secure the flooring and eliminate the noise, ensuring a long-lasting solution.

Yes, Corian® and other solid surface countertops can be cut with standard woodworking tools like a circular saw or a jigsaw, but using the correct blade is crucial for the best results.

The recommended blade is a tungsten carbide-tipped blade, often called a solid-surface planer or triple chip grind blade. This type of blade is hard enough to cut through the material effectively. For a jigsaw, a fine-tooth down-cutting blade should be used.

It is important to note that a diamond blade is not necessary. Diamond blades are designed for harder materials like natural stone, concrete, or brick, and Corian is not a natural stone.

Using blades designed for wood is not recommended as they can cause microfractures that weaken the countertop's edges. While a tungsten carbide blade provides a much cleaner cut, the resulting edge will still be rough and must be sanded and smoothed to prevent microfractures from developing over time.

It is common for a contractor to ask for a down payment before starting a project, especially for jobs that require purchasing materials and equipment or hiring a crew. The deposit amount can range from 10% to 50% of the total job cost. While a request for up to 50% is not unusual, a contractor should not ask for more than that, and you should never pay for a project in full before the work has begun. To protect yourself, always discuss payment terms before starting and have a written contract that outlines the project timeline and expectations. Additionally, be sure to hire reputable contractors and check their licensing and insurance before the project begins.

Most landscape timbers are 8 feet long, but some are also available in 10-foot and 12-foot lengths. Choose the length that will allow you to install landscape timbers using the least amount of cutting to fit. Shorter timbers will allow you to more easily create angles and shorter plant bed sides.
