James and his team did a phenomenal job! From the timing of the project to the quality of the work to the customer service, I couldn't have asked for anything more. I will absolutely hire James and his team again!

I really, really don't want to tell people about Old World Carpentry because I want to keep James all to myself. He's that good. He is incredibly responsive and he communicates, which is difficult to find in most contractors. He takes his time and is detail-oriented. He finds pleasure in restoring what's old so it looks new. I truly want to keep finding projects for him to do so we can keep him busy and not have to share him. Alas...I suppose someone else can have him for a week or two.

The first floor of our duplex down flooded last fall and we worked with James at OWC Renovation to put it back together after mitigation. James was great to work with, he priced the project reasonably, is such a nice guy, and obviously takes a lot of pride in his work. I am definitely someone that notices the little imperfections in things and I can honestly say James exceeded my expectations. He did really great work, and I will definitely be using him for future projects!

I was very pleased with all of the work, the outcome, and also the process. James is generally very good about returning calls, and always super punctual. I am very pleased with the quality of the work, and would hire him again. I think he knows what he is doing.

The woodwork was beautiful and done within a week! James was fantastic to work with - straightforward, no hassle, and efficient. His carpentry is clean, and design was beautiful. The job was done on time and within budget!

High quality work,  done thoughtfully and methodically.  James takes the time and care to come up with solutions to unique problems.  Very professional, friendly and unintrusive.  Cleaned up well and came back without an issue for some final touchups.

James does a nice job, and he is a great guy. It does take a while to get the job done, be prepared for that and you should be very pleased with the outcome. Keep the lines of communication open, and James will do his best to please you. He was extremely skilled moving the 1930 cabinet and reinstalling it. Once we have finished painting it... no one will know that this wasn't its original location in our home. I'm thrilled with that. I was afraid that it would look out of place, but James made it look original. The new kitchen pantry was a little more work on my part. Clearly communicating what I wanted, was a little hard than I expected. It is done now and I couldn't be more pleased. James carpentry skills have made my home much more functional while looking great at the same time.

James was on time for an early appointment, was very professional, and did very good work.  I will definitely use his services again.

He did an incredible job. It looks like the original installation on the oven. He was extremely neat and didn't make any kind of a mess. I would use him again and recommend him to anyone looking for some finished carpentry. He was extremely punctual and professional.

James does do good work, is good natured, and really made an effort in the end to assure we were satisfied with his work. However, this small job took seven months to complete. Even allowing for bad weather that prevented work going forward, this was far too long. Communication was difficult from the outset but eventually improved.

I had used Old World Carpentry in the past for a major repair/painting job on the outside trim of our house. Therefore I knew James was the right choice to remove/reinstall an outside railing on our roof. James arrived promptly on short notice to remove the railing. After roofing and stucco repairs were made he again returned to fabricate and reinstall the railing which now looks as good as new. James also fabricated a kickplate for our new trash compactor which matches the existing woodwork in our kitchen. I would definitely use James again for any carpentry job.

The end product was awesome! James finished the project one day later than originally anticipated (was originally thought to be 5 days, but ended up being 6), but kept in close communication with us the entire time. We agreed to and signed a basic contract for services. If James had a change in his schedule or time he would be working on the project, he notified us by text to let us know the requested change and if it would be acceptable to us. We were very happy with James and his work. The final price was within 5% of the estimate and I think was a fair price. All went well and would definitely use James again.

The job took much much longer than I anticipated - so I would recommend agreeing on a completion date when you hire him. Work was eventually done well, however communication was poor. Instead of asking me how I wanted things done, James took it upon himself to make the decisions and design/construction choices without talking to me. This resulted in him having to redo pieces of the hutch several times. We hired him specifically for his expertise, and while the work was done well- we were expecting more. It seemed as if he was juggling a lot and we didn't feel that our job and the way this piece turned out was important to him. He is a very nice guy, and if you hire him I would just recommend being very clear from the beginning on what you exactly need done and how you expect it to be done.
