"Bath Fitter did an amazing job upgrading our shower. We had tile, but we were having so many problems with cracks in the tile and the grout cracking and causing leaks that we were recaulking every 6 months, to the point the shower became unusable. Bath Fitter gave us a competitive quote. The install took a full day. The shower is a larger custom size but they handled it like pros. They knocked out all the tile and green board down to the studs, took out the original flooring, reworked the plumbing, then went to work installing everything. They got done late in the evening but the shower looked amazing. We had to wait a few days for the caulk to cure, and we waited a full week just to make sure it was fully set, but we loved it right away. We chose the Delta 2 in 1 Hydrorain shower head and instantly loved it. The best part? Our shower no longer leaks! Very happy with Bath Fitter’s work."

"Beware of shipping issues with this company. Ordered an ice maker installation kit on 10/10/25. Shipping was due no later than 10/20 according to company and FedEx tracking. FedEx tracking showed the package at their facility for 8 days without moving beginning on 10/15. Called FedEx 3 times. Each time they said they cannot find package and I have to contact shipper. Shipper has to make a claim, they will not mark it as lost. Called Appliance Parts Pros twice. Each time they say FedEx has to mark package lost before they will do anything. They also state they have to wait 14 days from them before doing anything because of their contract with FedEx. I don't care about their contract, I want what was ordered and paid for. Just going in circles with them and FedEX. If they shipped after 14 days it would be 22 days from that point, 32 days from the date of order if they shipped it that day. Continuous feed garbage disposals are the favorite model for many homeowners for a reason. As opposed to batch feed models, add food scraps to the drain whenever the disposal is running. This variety is also typically less expensive, more convenient, and easier to clean.

There are many maintenance and repair issues that lead to a malfunctioning garbage disposal. Regular clogs place wear and tear on the motors, leading to an eventual shutdown. Electrical issues at the breaker, wall outlet, or disposal itself can fry the unit. The most common cause is simply a worn-down motor. These motors can only handle so much use before powering down for good. 

Garbage disposals last an average of seven years but can function well past 10 years. However, as time goes on and more food is ground, the grinding plates will slowly lose their edge and need replacing. A motor likely won’t last 10 or more years, but you should be able to get a minimum of five years at least, even under heavy usage. 

Once you have your garbage disposal disconnected, you can remove the mounting bracket by unscrewing the bolts that are holding the bracket. You can back them out just enough to pop off the snap ring, which prevents the bottom portion of the bracket from disconnecting from the top when you unscrew the bolts. Use a regular screwdriver to pop off the snap ring, and the rest of the components should fall off by themselves.

Garbage disposals last an average of about 10 years, so it may be time for a new model if it's getting up there in age. Other signs that it's time to bring in a local garbage disposal pro include:
