They go a step above all the time. The first time he did a last minute removal of old concete and poured a step to our patio that was not on his list. This time, he even went back and filled in dirt where the concrete would have had a huge drop off to the grass. This will save us a ton of back breaking work. The best way to maintain a concrete or asphalt driveway is to clean it thoroughly twice a year. A stiff broom and a pressure washer are the best tools to clean away the inevitable buildup of dirt and debris that accumulates.

If you used regular jointing sand, you can typically walk on the repaired area right away. If you used polymeric sand, wait at least 24 hours before walking on it and 48 to 72 hours before driving over it, depending on the weather. Polymeric sand needs time to fully cure and lock the pavers in place.

Whether you should resurface or replace your asphalt driveway heavily depends on its condition. If the foundation is solid and the damage is minor, resurfacing is your best bet because it’s more affordable and faster than replacing the driveway. But if your driveway has foundational problems and/or severe damage, like large, deep cracks and potholes, then it makes more sense to replace it. 

In general, crack fillers last for about two years on average. That timeline can be shorter if you have extremely harsh winters or longer if you live in a mild climate. Luckily, this product is pretty affordable at the hardware store (about $10 to $30) and easy to DIY, so redoing it every few years shouldn’t be too much of a hassle.
