"I called around 7:15 Saturday morning and left a call back number with the answering service. I got a call back before 8:00 and Tom, the technician, was at my house shortly after 9:00am, after doing a repair for another customer. He found the issue quickly, pick up the part and had the AC running less than 2 hours after he arrived. He was courteous and very professional.

"We hired Breathe Easy Air Duct Cleaning to clean out the dryer vent. He was very prompt in contacting me back and got us right on the schedule. He was on time and very pleasant to work with. He did his job quickly and efficiently. We were so pleased that we want him to do some other jobs for us and we already have it on his schedule."

"They fixed my breaker and installed LED lighting, fire detectors in 3 bedrooms in a 6 hour period. Very professional and they cleaned up perfectly afterwards. They could have rushed through but approached me to ask if I wanted dimmer switches and what color. Great work, old school quality customer service."

"Dillon was a great guy and worked fast and efficient. My house is 50 plus years old and the duct work had never been cleaned. Post the work, the house even smelled better. I am in the middle of a complete remodel and living in the house. I had all 11 vent grilles removed -(saved Dillon a pile of time not having to remove and re-install) and I would have thought a discount would have been in order."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

There are a few ways to reduce your electricity bills if you use window AC units to keep cool. Set the unit temperature at least 1 degree higher than it is currently to reduce costs. Keep the unit clean for it to run efficiently. You may want to hire a window AC specialist near you to inspect the unit once a year and keep it in tip-top shape.

There are many signs of a bad AC fan motor, including if the fan blades don’t spin when the AC kicks on or if they keep spinning when the AC is off. The AC fan cools down the condenser coil, so a faulty motor can also cause the system to overheat. Unusual noises in the exterior AC unit, including grinding or rattling sounds, may also be a sign that the AC fan motor is worn out.

Some AC filters, known as reusable filters, can be cleaned and reinserted. Most AC filters, however, are disposable and cannot be cleaned.

Yes, it’s important to turn off your AC sometimes to give it a break and prevent it from freezing up. If your AC runs all the time, your system’s parts will wear down quicker, which may mean that you need to replace it sooner. Plus, using your AC constantly uses more electricity and leads to higher energy bills.

To reset your air conditioner, start by turning it off at the thermostat. Then, shut off power to the AC system at the circuit breaker. Some units have a dedicated "reset" button; if yours does, press and hold it for three to five seconds. If your air conditioner doesn't have a reset button, or if you are resetting it after a power outage, leave the circuit breaker off for at least 30 minutes to allow the system to reset itself. Afterward, turn the power back on at the breaker, turn on the AC from the thermostat, and set it to "cool" to test the system.
