"We hired Breathe Easy Air Duct Cleaning to clean out the dryer vent. He was very prompt in contacting me back and got us right on the schedule. He was on time and very pleasant to work with. He did his job quickly and efficiently. We were so pleased that we want him to do some other jobs for us and we already have it on his schedule."

"Dillon was a great guy and worked fast and efficient. My house is 50 plus years old and the duct work had never been cleaned. Post the work, the house even smelled better. I am in the middle of a complete remodel and living in the house. I had all 11 vent grilles removed -(saved Dillon a pile of time not having to remove and re-install) and I would have thought a discount would have been in order."

"Dillon and George were efficient, friendly, fast, fun, and really know what they're doing. Dillon explained the work details, answered our questions, and was upfront with costs, which we felt were reasonable. It was amazing what they cleaned out of our duct work (even an old dead mouse...ick!). We plan to use Preferred Home Improvements again in the future...thanks guys!"

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Signs of a damaged evaporator coil include warm air from vents, frequent starts and stops without proper cooling, failure to turn on, refrigerant leaks, and unusual noises. If you suspect issues with your AC system or its components, it’s best to call an AC repair technician for proper diagnosis and repairs.

The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers, or ASHRAE, sets the standard guidelines for air changes per hour in homes and businesses. The International Residential Code, or IRC, also sets ACH requirements for residences and bases those requirements off of ASHRAE standards plus climate specifics related to your location.

Turn your system off when you're toasty or when you're out to prevent unnecessary wear. Using the timer on your thermostat so that it switches off when it reaches a certain temperature or turns on just before you get back from work is best. An annual maintenance contract can be helpful to ensure your system receives these important services at regular intervals.

Air conditioners and dehumidifiers are actually quite similar, though they perform different jobs. Dehumidifiers reduce moisture in the air, while air conditioners work to cool the home. A good central AC unit will naturally perform a certain level of dehumidification due to its design, but it will not be able to handle excessive levels of moisture.

Freon will go in the refrigerant lines near the back of your AC unit. Look for small ports with caps on a thin copper line—the Freon goes into those ports. You are best off hiring a licensed HVAC professional who can complete the job safely and correctly.
