After developing a successful paving company in 1983, founder & president Kirk Sonnenberg decided to pursue his next business venture by purchasing a 3 acre piece of property and started the construction of Sonnenberg Landscaping Material and Supply Inc. in Belleville, Illinois. He opened the doors of Sonnenberg’s in 1991. The material & supply store slowly began to establish a client base & build inventory. With the increased demand for service, an installation division was implemented later the very same year. Recently, Sonnenberg’s has built a new shop and display building at its’ Belleville location along with the opening of another store in Columbia, IL. Recently, readers of the area’s largest newspaper publication voted Sonnenberg Landscaping the #1 Landscaping Company in the Metro-East area. The material & supply store property has developed into maintaining a stocked inventory of over a thousand tons of bulk rock & a few hundred pallets of block, brick, & pavers among a vast variety of other landscape materials and supplies. The landscaping company employs more than 30 employees with a vehicle fleet of over 40 trucks & pieces of heavy construction machinery.
