Customers say: Quick response

"We needed a ceiling plaster repair done quickly so that we could list our house for sale. All the other companies we called were at least a month out from even giving us an estimate. Mr. Guerrero came the day after we called, gave us an estimate and fixed our plaster within five days, even returning several days later to ensure that everything still looked good. Could not be more pleased with his service!"

"Exploring for home maintenance work, I tapped into Angis List and contacted two suggested service companies. Oreo was prompt to contact me for details on the job. He pursued an onsite visit and noted all concerns followed by a same day bid by email. I received followup calls over a period of 3 months, finally determining to complete the projects in October 2024. Once the decision was confirmed, the project specialist reviewed the list of work on site the same day the contract was signed. My home was scrapped and painted, shutters removed and repainted, along with repairs to the eves, replacement of porch light frames and restoration of a desperately deilapidated fence. Communication and integrity are earmarks of this service agency. Both the contractor and the worker completing the project, were consistent in keeping me informed of the project and pursuing my approvals as the work progressed. The work quality was exceptional. I would recommend Oreo Maintenance without hesitation, Great Job Guys, reminiscent of the past 2 generations of pride taken in the craft and the job. Always put your name on your work. Thanks!"

"I contacted World Painting after CertaPro dropped out of sight.  We quickly got an appointment with them and they were ready to give us a bid that day.  The price was reasonable and it included power washing, caulking, and painting our porch floor along with the entire house.
They were able to start within the week and kept us updated through out the project, letting us know what was the next step and when it would be completed.  Customer service was excellent.  When I had a question they called me back within the hour.
They did an amazing job and we have gotten tons of compliments on it.  We would definitely use them again.

Drywall questions, answered by experts

With its breathability and flexibility, lime plaster is among the most durable of all plaster types. It's also fire-resistant and has a proven track record, as people have been using it for thousands of years.

However, all plaster types will last for many years with the right care and treatment. Proper preparation and installation will also help ensure your plaster walls look great for as long as possible.

You should not leave drywall outside, especially overnight or in a wet, humid climate. Exposure to rain and humidity can damage the drywall, weakening its structural integrity and making it susceptible to mold growth. If you must leave drywall outside during a project, be sure to cover it with a tarp or keep it inside a storage shed to protect it. Even drywall intended for exterior projects requires a protective moisture barrier. For best results, store any extra drywall in a dry area away from the elements.

When used correctly, drywall patch kits can work well. However, there are limitations. Specifically, these kits can only cover holes up to 5 inches in diameter. For anything larger than that, you’ll need to cut out the affected section of drywall and replace it with a new piece. That’s a far more complicated process that involves buying the right type of drywall, finding the wall studs, cutting into your wall, and screwing the replacement drywall in place.

Technically speaking, you can use drywall primer over plasters. However, oil-based primers work the most effectively on wall plasters. Meanwhile, water-based primers work just as well with drywalls. Nowadays, there are also universal primers suitable for drywall and plaster. Overall, you will be fine as long as you are using a trustworthy brand.

Both plaster and drywall are durable wall finishes, but they differ significantly in installation, cost, performance, and aesthetics.

Installation & Cost: Drywall installation is faster and more affordable, typically costing $1.50 to $3 per square foot. It uses premade sheets, making it a more accessible DIY project. Plastering is a labor-intensive craft that requires specialized skills, pushing costs to $2 to $10 per square foot. It involves applying a wet paste over a lath framework.

Durability & Performance: Plaster is generally more durable, longer-lasting, and provides superior soundproofing. It is also a better insulator, which can help reduce energy costs. Drywall is easier to remove for future renovations.

Aesthetics: Drywall provides a smooth, uniform surface ready for paint or texture. Plaster offers a high-end, naturally textured look that can hide imperfections and is often preferred for achieving a classic or historic aesthetic.

Which is better? The choice depends on your priorities. Drywall is ideal for those prioritizing a lower upfront cost, faster installation, and DIY potential. Plaster is the better option for a higher-end project where durability, soundproofing, and a unique, premium finish are more important than the initial cost.
