"Eric and his team did a fantastic job painting the exterior of our house! The estimate was reasonable and work was completed with quality. Eric paid close attention to details. He repaired some areas on the house where wood had rotted and it looks great. Eric was on site every day. He had good communication and was always responsive. I would definitely hire HPO Painting again."

"Excellent. Anthony's team was timely, professional and provided a very high quality product. The existing stain was 9 years old and considerable repair of loose and cracked boards was needed especially on the south elevation. Preemo completed a complete color change and addressed all the siding issues without additional carpentry costs. Lots of compliments and inquiries from neighbors."

"Saul was on time and went immediately to work. I was extremely impressed by his professionalism. He and his assistant did not miss a thing, from cleaning up the cobwebs up high I couldn't reach, to covering every square inch for flooring beneath the paint areas to sanding and prepping the walls before painting. I do not think I could give a higher rating to this company, they are truly the best of the best!"

"I’ve worked with a lot of contractors, several different types of work, and none of them. Absolutely none of them took as much pride in their work and doing an excellent job. Not good. EXCELLENT. As the crew at Trinity Quality Paint. I’d recommend, hire again, and show their work off anytime to anyone."

"This is the second time we’ve used steadfast, they painted our deck summer 2018. If you are looking for a painting company that will do a perfect job that will last, hire steadfast. I was so happy with how our deck held up over the winter, I decided to have them paint the outside of our house. Anthony is so terrific to work with and all of his employees are polite and do a great job. My neighbor was so impressed by the work that they did, how nice the employees got along and talked to each other, she hired them to paint the outside of her house too!"

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

It is not always necessary to remove old stain before restaining a deck. If the previous stain is in good condition and is compatible with the new stain, you may be able to apply a new coat after thorough cleaning. However, if the old stain is in bad condition, flaking, or peeling, it is best to remove it completely to ensure an even surface and proper adhesion for the new coat. Staining over a damaged layer can lead to an uneven finish and poor penetration. For best results, test a small area first and consult the stain manufacturer's guidelines.

You have a couple of options when choosing a durable pool deck coating. Epoxy is common and offers excellent stain and water resistance. Epoxy also withstands high temperatures and UV lighting, making it ideal for sunny spots. You can also add a coating to cement, which significantly lowers the temperature of the concrete, is environmentally safe, and makes cleanup a breeze.

Choosing whether your deck should be lighter or darker than your house is a matter of personal preference, as there is no right or wrong answer. However, considering the pros and cons of each can help guide your decision. Darker colors are often chosen because they show less dirt, footprints, and marks from daily wear, making them easier to keep clean. On the other hand, lighter deck colors tend to stay cooler in the summer. From a design perspective, using a deck color that contrasts with your home's exterior can help make the deck a more defined and distinct feature. Consulting color theory can also make the process of choosing a complementary house and deck color combination easier.

Wood stain is typically dry to the touch within 6 to 12 hours, but it is not fully cured at this point. You should wait at least 24 hours before applying a second coat or a protective finish. For surfaces like decks, avoid walking on them for at least 24 to 48 hours, and wait even longer before placing furniture. The full curing process can take from 24 hours to one week, depending on the type of stain. Factors like high humidity and cold temperatures can extend drying and curing times, so it's wise to allow for extra time in these conditions.

It’s necessary for paint to completely dry before exposure to rain, and that drying time varies by the type of paint used. Oil-based paint takes 6 to 8 hours to dry on average, meaning that’s the minimum time needed between the last brush stroke and the first raindrop. Latex paint dries faster at around 1 hour, and acrylic paint is even quicker, usually drying in about 30 minutes. If rain is in the forecast, check the paint manufacturer's details before laying on a new coat.
